Plans are afoot to develop a family-friendly boutique country club in northeastern Dallas.

The project is the brainchild of Nick Clark and Dawson Williams, the pair who founded the coworking space Common Desk. In 2022, the company was sold to WeWork.

Now, the partners are pivoting.

While they have yet to break ground, Clark and Williams have already acquired a 3.65-acre property on 10405 E. Northwest Highway in Lake Highlands, the proposed future home of the country club.

On October 7, Clark took to LinkedIn to thank supporters of his project ahead of a planned neighborhood meeting.

“I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming early support of our new boutique country club in Lake Highlands. This Wednesday night we have a very important Lake Highlands neighborhood meeting at the Audelia Rd Branch Library at 6:30 pm. This meeting is part of the process of our city of Dallas rezoning case,” wrote Clark.

Later in the week, on October 10, Clark again took to social media to thank his supporters following the event.

“Last night was incredible! Dawson and I are so grateful for all the supporters that came out for our neighborhood meeting as we continue to push forward with our vision of creating a new type of country club for East Dallas families,” he wrote on LinkedIn.

Williams said he believes the family-centered emphasis will enhance the country club concept, just as the emphasis on coworking enhanced the office environment.

“Coworking was such a dynamic, community-driven concept that it had the power to really change office space, and we view these clubs the same way. … We think emphasis on family is just super dynamic, and we’re obsessed with building communities like this,” said Williams, per The Dallas Morning News.

As part of the club’s family-friendly focus, a dedicated nursery and play area will be provided for children under the age of five. An entire floor will be dedicated to older children, ages six through 13.

“Exclusively for families, the club will have 18,000 square feet of indoor space for kiddos, family dining, adult dining, a state-of-the-art fitness / wellness facility, an outdoor playground and a resort style pool,” per the boutique country club’s website.

“As a dad of two now, I want a place where children are prioritized above the adults when it comes to design, indoor space allocation, amenities and programming. I want my kids to have fun, make friends and be in an environment that helps them truly flourish, not just be watched in smaller confined spaces,” Williams said on LinkedIn on October 4.

Of course, the country club will also provide a variety of adult amenities, including yoga and pilates studios, a gym, a sauna, an extra-large swimming pool, and more. The top floor will also include an adults-only restaurant with a rooftop patio. A family restaurant will occupy part of the bottom floor space.

Memberships are expected to cost between $399 and $450 a month, plus a one-time initiation fee between $7,500 and $10,000.
