Incumbent Ellen Troxclair, a Republican from Lakeway, is seeking her second term in the Texas House of Representatives.

She was first elected to represent House District 19 in 2022, defeating Pam Baggett in the general election. In the Republican primary prior to her victory, Troxclair received 38.2% of the vote, and Justin Berry garnered 35.4%. In the runoff, she defeated Berry with 56.5% of the vote.

Troxclair, a former Austin City Council member and realtor, is facing entrepreneur Manny Campos and former State Rep. Kyle Biedermann in this year’s Republican primary.

In the 88th Legislature, Troxclair served on several committees, including Homeland Security & Public Safety; House Select Committee on Community Safety; Culture, Recreation & Tourism Committee; and Select Study Committee on Sustainable Property Tax Relief.

“Representative Troxclair was a key advocate in passing the largest property tax cut in United States history, providing unprecedented funding to secure our border, protecting women’s ability to compete fairly in sports, and ensuring that our children are shielded from those who wish them harm,” according to her biography on her Texas House of Representatives webpage.

“She is a leading voice in ensuring every child has access to a great education, ending human trafficking across our border, expanding property tax relief, and keeping Texas a great place to work and raise a family. Her principled low tax, limited government, and pro-family values have helped to shape the national conversation and keep Texas a beacon of liberty,” the page goes on.

On her campaign website, Troxclair touts securing the border, lowering taxes, stopping “leftist indoctrination and critical race theory in our schools,” protecting “unborn life,” supporting law enforcement, ensuring “the integrity of our elections” and championing the Second Amendment, among other issues.

“Representative Ellen Troxclair is the proven conservative voice for Texas House District 19, the heart of Hill Country. She is a devoted mom, non-profit leader, and small business owner who is grateful to represent Blanco, Burnet, Gillespie, Kendall, and western Travis Counties,” her campaign website reads.

The best-selling author of Step Up! How to Advocate like a Woman, Troxclair said she’s inspired “a new generation of conservative women to boldly join the fight, through advocacy and leadership in policy and politics.”

Troxclair has also worked as a senior fellow with the Texas Public Policy Foundation, as a writer for Real Clear Politics, the Washington Examiner, and the Daily Caller, and as a Fox News contributor. She and her husband, Caleb, have three children.
