School officials have canceled classes for Monday, December 13, for students at Lone Star High School, due to multiple bomb threats. The school, located at 2606 Panther Creek Parkway, is part of the Frisco Independent School District.
In a statement released by Frisco ISD, school officials said, “The initial threat came in the form of a social media post on Friday and the second threat was via email Sunday evening. The Frisco Police Department is at the Lone Star campus today continuing to investigate the origin of the social media post and letter.”
As reported by Fox 4 News, school officials sent out a letter to parents stating that the school would remain open on Monday with heightened security. However, the decision was later reversed, and the school was closed on Monday for the safety of students and teachers.
Fox 4 News also reported that the email received on Sunday allegedly referenced bullying and a bomb hidden on campus.
In a statement released on Twitter, the Frisco Police Department said, “The Frisco Police Department is aware of threats made related to Lone Star High School. Our department will exhaust all means necessary to ensure the safety of the students, faculty, and staff. We are working diligently with Frisco ISD and other partners to investigate these threats and find those responsible.”
The Frisco ISD Student Code of Conduct states that any student who makes a bomb threat or any “terrorist threat,” even if it is a “false alarm,” will automatically be placed in the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) and may be expelled. According to the document, Frisco ISD also takes bullying seriously and has disciplinary measures in place for such conduct.
