Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Danielle, I'm grateful to you for being here. You are truly a woman that is, I believe, going to spearhead massive change throughout our country, of course, state right now. But when I asked you to come on, and I was thinking about I rarely do this, I rarely think of the name of the episode until we actually have the content recorded but then I settled on something along the lines of how brilliant, prayerful women, behind bold men shape nations communities, and that is you. I mean, you're a Dartmouth graduate, you're a published author at a very young age. You, I won't even go through your whole resume because you are so accomplished, but you've managed to do a lot right.
01:06
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And as I've confided in you about some of my upbringing, I did a lot wrong. Somehow, you and I have both landed on the same soil, and we're passionate, and we fight for what we believe in. But what I wanted to ask you first is a little bit about your time at Dartmouth. I saw a video a long time ago, I think of your father, Dinesh D'Souza, who was giving a lecture, some type of presentation at Dartmouth, and he was attacked. And then you went on to Fox News, you reflected on what occurred. Were you afraid? I mean, how did you handle it? Obviously, you kept recording.
01:56
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah. Well, I think that people should see what's going on and so that's why I was recording them. And they were so proud of their selves that they were recording me. They were recording us and so they they were happy with their efforts.
02:08
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah. So what's the answer? You know, you, your dad, you're on the front lines of this, you know, trying to to change things when it comes to the university level and getting more conservative voices out there. How do you do that? Well, I
02:20
Danielle D'Souza Gill
think the conservative students just can't be intimidated by them and it's so much easier said than done, but that's what they're doing. They're really socially intimidating the students that are there every single day. You know, the speakers come and the speakers go, but the students who stay there, they're the ones that have to live around all of these
02:34
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Yeah.
02:34
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Hooligans. And so, I would say those students just have to be empowered and remind themselves that they can't be intimidated by these people. I
02:42
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
mean, you went to an Ivy League school. Would you consider ever sending your children to one at this point the way that the culture has really morphed?
02:51
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Right. Well, firstly, Sarah, thank you for having me. You're the sweetest. I love being here. Honestly, you're amazing and love this podcast.
03:00
Danielle D'Souza Gill
But it's just it's so hard because I think there is something so special about learning and all those things. But when learning isn't happening anymore and when it's just indoctrination, when there's just the the violence even or the social intimidation, all those things, I would never wanna put a vulnerable kid in that situation. And certainly, I know a lot of parents, they ask the same question, and they wonder what they should do. Mhmm. I think it and I I don't know.
03:32
Danielle D'Souza Gill
It's hard to say. My kids are really young. They're three and one right now, so I have a while before deciding what they're going to do. But I think if I were looking at it right now, in a way, I think it's we need some people there because we need people to be culture warriors, to spread the gospel, talk about conservatism in new spaces or places where it's very hostile to those ideologies. So I think that's really important, but some, people at that age might not be ready for that and might flourish more in an environment where it's, you know, they can kind of just be themselves and feel a little bit more comfortable because we don't all have the same mission or the same talents or the same journey in life.
04:13
Danielle D'Souza Gill
We all kind of have a different path of getting different places and can still do a lot, I think, for God's kingdom. So it's not like that's the one way to go. Some people, they are, like, should go to, you know, seminary or something, and they are around a lot of like minded people. And I think other people go somewhere where it's maybe kind of the lion's den situation. Situation.
04:31
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Mhmm. So I think it really depends on on the kid in in that environment. But for the most part, it's really sad because I think those colleges have changed a lot, and they're not what they used to be. Because originally, Dartmouth, for example, was founded to evangelize the Native Americans. And so their motto, Vox Clementus and D'Serto, is lone voice in the wilderness.
04:54
Danielle D'Souza Gill
So it's like, you know, so when I was interviewing for college, I was like, my goal is to evangelize at Dartmouth. I want to be lone voice in the wilderness and, like, talk to people, and I was like, I definitely won't be getting in, like, not. Some of them slipped through the cracks there, but, but for the most part, I think a lot of those institutions are just so lost, it's very sad.
05:16
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
It's true. And someone that you and I share in common is my brother-in-law, Matt. You and Brandon both went through Christian Union, and he told me before meeting you, her faith is remarkable about you. She is truly someone to champion the goodness of God's kingdom. And I think whenever you and I first met, I mean, I hadn't had my huge fall, so to speak, that really corrected my space into my own faith, which I'm eternally grateful for today.
05:51
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
But I guess since you experienced Christian Union, and then my friend Rob Hayes, who went through Christian Union, he's Catholic and now very much ministers to the comparable Catholic equivalent at Princeton. And I wonder, do you think that programs like that are enough to give someone a sense of camaraderie on the campuses?
06:15
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Oh my gosh, I absolutely love Christian Union. I love, of course, the work that Matt Bennett's done, and was so blessed to be part of Christian Union when, I think when Brandon first started, it was very, very small because it had only been around maybe one year Mhmm.
06:29
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
When he had come
06:30
Danielle D'Souza Gill
to to college. So it was kind of just like this little group, but literally got to see it grow to be one of the largest groups on our college campus, where I think the only other larger group was the Dartmouth Outing Club, which is sports. Okay. So it was, like, so amazing to see God work and God move on campus, not because of our efforts, but because I think God was wanting to, you know, reach students on on on the campus. So, I I absolutely think that's so important because college is also such a formative time in people's lives, and it's kind of when people are deciding, you know, who do I want to be? What do I want to be
07:05
Danielle D'Souza Gill
like as an adult? You're not living with your parents anymore. You're on your own. And so you're kind of, you know, forced to to make some of those decisions. And so I think laying that foundation for people of kind of their identity in a way for for their adult life is really important because a lot of the time after college, that sets them on a certain maybe path.
07:27
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Maybe they they meet their their person like Brandon and I met in college, and so that's great. Or they just make lifelong friends that they share memories and values with, which is really cool. Also, mentorship is so great. I loved getting to be mentored and have the most incredible people to look up to, and then as I got older, I got to lead some of the women's Bible studies for other younger girls and talk to them about stuff
07:53
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Oh, good.
07:54
Danielle D'Souza Gill
That's on their heart. And Yeah. I just think that's so special to get to do those things because, it's just it's just part of kind of the Christian Christian walk, I would say, is being community with other people, having someone else that you can you can go to because everybody has, you know, different different struggles, different things that they're going that are going on in their lives. And so, so that's a really good thing to do, I think, in college. So, yeah, I'm a huge fan of Christian Union and, just evangelism in general and also focusing on, like, what's our greater mission?
08:29
Danielle D'Souza Gill
What's our greater purpose? It's not just like growing the self or, you know, you becoming a better person, but like, what can we do for other people? How can we serve them and how can we focus on the gospel and God's message to those people? So Yes, and thank
08:45
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
you for that. And the reason I found it so important to touch upon is because so many of my friends who watch this show, they have kids all over the Metroplex. Their kids are bright, and they don't want to send their kids there. Manny went to Cornell and he's like, Over my dead body? Will any of our children go to an Ivy?
09:08
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
But he said that one of the kids he would consider, because he just has such a strong resolve with respect to his faith. You've met him, our little boy Louis. And so he's the one that's more steadfast. But again, we don't know why we would risk it, but I wanted to ask you your perspective and
09:31
Danielle D'Souza Gill
your thoughts, so thank you for that. Yes. Well, loved meeting them, first of all. Her kids are precious, if you're listening to this. They're just absolutely precious, and so I love getting to meet with them.
09:40
Danielle D'Souza Gill
We got to meet up in DC. Got to, like, do a little sightseeing. And It was wonderful. Just, like like, they're at these tender ages, but they're, like, little adults. They're so thoughtful.
09:50
Danielle D'Souza Gill
They would literally be, like, sharing their thoughts with me, and I was you're a genius.
09:54
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
No, thank you, thank you. And they loved you, as you can imagine. But I want to toggle over to the place in Texas where we find ourselves today. Yesterday, I shared this post, and I rarely share my political thoughts and opinions on social because I have so many so much family that follows me. And I'm from Juarez and El Paso, and so much of my family, they're staunch, staunch Democrats, and I love them.
10:25
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I love them. But yesterday I was livid, because I saw Talarico stating that he believed that at the state level, because they were trying to include Christian theology in public schools, that that was indoctrination, things of that sort, and your word indoctrination reminded me of that particular post. I'm not sure if you've seen it.
10:55
Video
It was maybe the most insidious. It was a new state curriculum that that would teach Christian Bible stories as historical fact, as the only truth to our youngest students, and I mean kindergarten first graders. These are kids who who aren't able to to think for themselves yet. They haven't formed their own worldviews and and
11:24
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I was infuriated. Infuriated because I thought to myself, okay, we're all God's children. I'm not someone who speaks ill of candidates or political opponents. I try not to because I really work on not judging. But I was livid because I thought there's empirical statistical evidence that shows and states how Christianity improves society as a whole, like depression rates, early drinking, smoking, all of this, you've written Why God?
11:56
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And that's a very powerful book that really showcases your intellectual prowess, because it's not so much surrounding the feelings, but the analytical rigor that backs our faith. What would you say to someone who sent this text? I have words pertaining to my own thoughts and beliefs about how Christian faith benefits society. I'm a Christian, but I believe it shouldn't be pushed onto kids or even adults. God gave us the ability to choose.
12:34
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Schools or government should not be pushing this. It's the parent's duty, this is where we are in society. Why is it so difficult to allow parents to parent? It's not your choice or mine in how other parents parent! Exclamation point.
12:48
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I wanted to pull excerpts from your book, but I want you, since we have the author here in person, to speak to how you would respond to that Yeah. If you were asked.
12:57
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah. Well, I guess I would firstly say, I totally agree. It's everyone's free will Mhmm. To accept Absolutely. Jesus Christ in their heart as their Lord and Savior.
13:06
Danielle D'Souza Gill
But I think part of that is being exposed to that choice in the first place. And so I guess she's saying, hey, you shouldn't be introduced to that choice or that, not even choice, but
13:18
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
But I guess yes. Okay. He. Yes. The
13:21
Danielle D'Souza Gill
background, even at school. I will say just backing up, though, I think that Christianity and just even, let's say, ancient Greek philosophy, a lot of things are just part of Western history and Western culture, and those things are going to come up at school. So oftentimes, I think the left goes to a whole separation of church and state or things like that, but then they're not realizing that very, very rarely would it be someone in a classroom, a public school saying, you know, here's why you should accept Jesus Christ in your life. It's not that. It's their learning about history and they're learning about the way that I think the West kind of unfolded.
13:59
Danielle D'Souza Gill
I think to remove, a lot of Christianity from that is really doing an injustice to the truth of history because so much, I mean, even through the medieval time is really based on Christianity. I mean, Christianity was kind of, the religion that everybody in Europe basically believed. And of course, the left calls it the dark ages, but it wasn't really a dark time. And then, after that, I think with the enlightenment and other things, see, like, some attacks on that and so on, but I just don't even know how you would learn all these things if you were trying to remove Christianity. Certainly, when talking about America, our founders, they frequently spoke about God.
14:40
Danielle D'Souza Gill
So I think that that's unfortunate. And I guess just from a moral perspective, aside from history, the 10 Commandments, they shouldn't be controversial. The 10 Commandments, you know, thou shall not kill, things like that. That should be something that is good for young children to learn and to see. I mean, we even have attacks from the left on the Pledge of Allegiance or the American flag.
15:03
Danielle D'Souza Gill
They find those things to be upsetting. And so at a certain point, I think we, as Christians, as conservative as Americans, have to decide, like, what do we want our country to be? Do we want it to be a country where kids say the Pledge of Allegiance, love the country, and are exposed to basic moral truths and real history? Or do we want it to be a country where patriotism, Christianity, and basic moral values are completely stripped from their education, they're instead being taught about questioning their gender, I don't know, reversing their biological sex, things like that. We have to, at the end of the day, decide those things because there isn't just this empty space vacuum Mhmm.
15:50
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Where there's no worldview that's being, transmitted, if that makes sense. So, I guess I would say to your friend, you know, I agree, we all we all have that free will, but there is an element of education that that needs to actually educate.
16:05
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Mhmm.
16:06
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And I know a lot of parents are choosing alternative methods. They're choosing homeschooling or Christian schools or places where they say, hey, you know, we are gonna learn, we're gonna learn real real things. Mhmm. So, I think that's very powerful too, but I don't think we should just surrender, the public schools because a lot of kids don't have access to those other options. And so we can't just leave those other kids to these insane liberals.
16:30
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Yeah. And it's I'm with you. And like I said, the empirical statistical evidence proves that Christianity and mind you, I didn't even state this. Monty has had a lot to do with the institution of these principles. It's not even talking about Jesus Christ as our Savior.
16:50
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
They're simply sharing stories like about Esther. Like, we're talking Torah, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, two. Like, we're talking Old School stories with some Old Testament stories with some trickled in New Testament, but not at all saying, This is what you must believe, this is how. It's only life lessons through Biblical So how it has now become indoctrination when Muslims often state that the Bible is considered a holy book, I mean, clearly our Jewish friends, same there. They practice what's in the Torah.
17:29
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
So these stories are not unaware, right? If we were to practice or have stories shared from the Quran, that would not be applicable to all, because that is not found in the formation and I don't say all, because not everyone is Christian, Jewish, or Muslim but I'm saying from the louder voices that I've been reading comments from, that was commentary. So I didn't understand how it was even referred to as indoctrination. But do you find that, at least on your side of political spectrum I know that I drive that up armored vehicle because we had death threats, and all of this, and the guy that was eventually found FBI found him. But here's the thing.
18:18
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
He was left and hated Monty, but still, you know, we had really horrific, terrifying things said to us. We don't have any form of the following that you and Brandon have. And I can only imagine some of the attacks that have come against you and him. Which of the attacks against you both, if you're willing to share, have created more resolve, more resilience, more desire to fight against the lies and the corruption?
18:57
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah. Well, first of all, just wanna say that that is absolutely horrific that these things are happening to you. That is awful. But, gosh, I mean, truly, I think some of the attacks, like random social media, so many comments, I literally don't even see because there's just not even enough time in the day to read them. Same.
19:19
Danielle D'Souza Gill
I guess, gosh, I mean, yeah, we get the death threats, the hate mail, all of that.
19:23
Danielle D'Souza Gill
I I guess they get reported to the Capitol Police, and, I mean, it's just sad that there are people who feel like that's The answer. Wanna spend their time on, you know? Like, I would never wish that on Of course. A Democrat or any person that I disagree with, and that's why we have debate and discussion and Yes. Political process.
19:46
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Mhmm. So, yeah, I would never want that for their family, for their kids. I guess I would say what gives me most resolve honestly, I don't think it's any specific attack. Mhmm. I think it's more just focusing on the truth and focusing on, you know, what's right, and that, I think, gives you the strength and the courage to stick to that.
20:07
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Mhmm. And a lot of the things that are the attacks, I guess, it could fuel you, it could you know, with all those things, but it's so evil that I just feel like you just can't even dwell on it.
20:19
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Mhmm.
20:21
Danielle D'Souza Gill
I know that, you know, God can kinda turn anything into something something else, and so, of course, you could look at that and say, okay, now I'm feeling I'm feeling more determined, but I think it would be better if people didn't do that anymore, honestly. I really do. I really think that that that would just be so much better. But no, I think it's the truth, and I think it's just knowing that if you just stay the course with the truth on your side, then that's gives you the strength to go forward.
20:49
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I love that. I love that, and I'm sorry that that happens to you all, but I do believe you all are going to be and I've stated that to you before great agents for change and truth and transparency in this country. So I'm so grateful
21:03
Danielle D'Souza Gill
to
21:03
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
you. Where do you see progressive ideology really attacking women in our world today? I mean, there's so many examples. I'll let you share Keep it open. Some of Yes.
21:21
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Gosh. Well, there's a lot. I guess I would say the first thing that sticks out to me that I think is maybe one of the most evil is the attacks on motherhood. Mhmm. Because I think to make mothers feel like they're less than, like they're not important Mhmm.
21:36
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Like they're not worthy Mhmm. Like the there's some other identity or some other thing that they need in order to be valued in our society is very, very harmful because I think that in of itself is such an important role in raising the next generation. Think where would we even be without mothers? We wouldn't even have
22:00
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
That's right.
22:01
Danielle D'Souza Gill
A society. We wouldn't have a world anymore. Yep. So and I think babies are something that are just so special, should be cherished and loved so much, and with that, I think that mother child relationship. So I think anything we can do to stop the attacks on mothers in that way would be so important.
22:22
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And not just to stop the attacks, but even to make it celebrated and more just something fun, like not just a burden or something that people do when they get through so that they can do the next thing, but something that's truly a calling and something that's truly cherished because I really think that the Lord cherishes that and he has a purpose in each person's life. And so you're part of forming this person
22:51
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And making them who God made them to be. And that's that's a really special role.
22:56
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And I couldn't agree more. I couldn't agree more because, Lord, like I said, I've done much wrong in my life. But as far as the goodness, I'm so grateful that it's evident in my journey with respect to being a mother. It's been the most rewarding. You're an amazing mom.
23:20
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Thank you, as are you, Danielle. And I do believe that it will show. It will show as they continue to grow in all four, right? Or I guess all four of mine, all two of yours, because my stepsons are also amazing. Know you met Lukey, but not I Jack quite really tried to understand, and I spent time on the social clips, because I kept seeing this Team Lindsay, because I just didn't understand it, how people are able to support Lindsay Clancy.
24:01
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And I thought to myself, there's got to be something I'm not understanding. There's got to be something, because I'm really trying to understand how can people say Team Lindsey, and even if she did have postpartum psychosis, how can you say team Lindsey even if it's from the place of understanding that she was experiencing this psychotic break? Okay. She's still a murderer. She's still a murderer.
24:35
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Do you have any words for these people who are, you know, showing up in support of this woman who has murdered? Is there something that that you can share perspective on relating to this situation?
24:55
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah. It's a horrific story. Yeah. I mean, one of the things I saw, which might be the only positive, was I guess it was trending that guys are breaking up with their girlfriends who were fans of her. So I'm like, good on them.
25:07
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Oh. Because Uh-huh. I have a feeling that. They're like, wait a second. They're like, wait, I don't really want the mother of my children to side with the strangler of children.
25:16
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Mhmm. You know? So thank goodness there's some common sense out there. I think well, she was never diagnosed with postpartum depression. No.
25:24
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And that, I think, is what everyone's glommed on to, to say, oh, we feel so bad with people with postpartum depression.
25:28
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Of course.
25:29
Danielle D'Souza Gill
We do feel bad with people with postpartum depression, but she didn't have postpartum depression. And also, even whatever mental issues she was struggling with, yes, that doesn't mean you can just go strangle your kids. And I think a lot of the evidence that's coming out is showing that it was premeditated and is showing that she did plan this,
25:47
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
told her leave.
25:47
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And even after, I think at the hospital, she said, didn't say, oh, are my kids Okay? When she was normal, she was wanting representation, wanting to worry about her
25:56
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Yep.
25:57
Danielle D'Souza Gill
You know, case. So I just think it's horrific that there would be people who are supporting that. Mhmm. Maybe to the extent that they don't know the facts, but honestly, I think a lot of them do. Mhmm.
26:13
Danielle D'Souza Gill
I mean, we do have a lot of people around the country who celebrate abortion. They celebrate the killing of babies, and even at the nine month point. Mhmm. So what would prevent them from not celebrating the murder of these kids who were young children?
26:29
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And your book, The Choice, I mean, it's it's compelling. And also, I I'm not I think I've spoken with you about Rollin Warren and even Matt. How I've even our pastor of Saint Rita who I've interviewed and I've stated, listen, like at 15 my mother took me for an abortion, something horrific happened, you know this story. And it wasn't until I started digging in college into the financials of Planned Parenthood and the motives behind people to keep this very lucrative industry up and running. And I was never asked, are you sure this is something that you want to do despite whatever horrific event?
27:20
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Are you sure this is something that won't come back to haunt you in your none of those questions were ever posed to me, and it caused severe issues, on top of issues that I already had. I mean, before I went through significant deliverance and healing on my own faith journey, I mean, I understand that I just had a lot that I was carrying from ancestral space spiritually, but that did a number on me. And the lies that I found entrenched and embedded in that entire narrative and when I started to expose it, was told that I could not step anywhere around Planned Parenthood because I was so vocal. But what would you say to at least that type of attack that is on mothers stating that it is acceptable, It is acceptable. Not even mothers, young women stating that it's acceptable to consider that because it's a woman's body, a woman's choice, but they don't understand the horrific horror, spiritual drain, the darkness that will find a woman through anxiety, depression, all of these things spiritually, they open themselves up to this.
28:48
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And I know because I lived it. What would you say to those young women who have compassion? I think it's through the suicidal empathy space, that compassion narrative. Oh, if they want to do this, it's their body. What pieces from your book would you invite them to explore?
29:13
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Or what independent thoughts on top of your book would you want to impart?
29:18
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah, well, thank you for sharing that, first of all, because that's just your testimony. I'm sure it would be so powerful and you sharing that with, girls who are struggling with that. But I think that you're saying women who believe in abortion, they're not themselves wondering if they're going get an abortion. You're saying they're pro abortion, and they think they're being compassionate to women who want an abortion Mhmm. Or in this situation.
29:42
Danielle D'Souza Gill
I think I would just say that it's not compassionate in any way. It's not compassionate, obviously, to the baby because you're killing the
29:50
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
baby To murder.
29:51
Danielle D'Souza Gill
In a very brutal way through one of the most grotesque methods Absolutely. That's going to be varying depending on how long the pregnancy is, but no matter what, it's going to result in death. And it's not compassionate to the mother, because the mother has to go through of course, there's the physical effects, but then also the emotional, the mental, the spiritual effects that you were talking about. And I think that, sadly, so many women who have been in that situation talk about how they buried that, how they didn't, you know, they didn't want to deal with that, but then many years later, that kind of comes out again. And so I think if someone's in that situation, I've just I've never heard of a situation where someone said, you know what?
30:42
Danielle D'Souza Gill
I was gonna get an abortion, decided not to. I kept the baby. Now I really wish I had gotten an abortion. Mhmm. Because they have the child, and literally, that child is a human being Mhmm.
30:55
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Is loved. And I think, one of the most powerful things is, of course, the ultrasound, because when many women see the ultrasound, they more often than not choose not to abort the child because they literally see Mhmm. The baby. And so I think no one would ever want to go back later. And so I think the only thing that's left is regret.
31:16
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And so I would say it's just not compassionate to the mother either who's in that situation.
31:22
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
You're right. Yeah. You're right. And I think I also mentioned to you that was given up for adoption, because my own biological mother couldn't afford to feed me, already had my two other siblings, and for all intents and purposes, her life should have been an example of someone who could have chosen to abort me and understand perfectly because of course she can't afford to feed her. And I didn't know that part of my story, again, when I was 15.
32:01
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
But it was when I learned it at 17, took me down. Because, right, imagine that layered guilt of thinking, did this and this and this. No, I'm grateful for that process, because now I can speak to it. Right? I can speak to that and say, Of course.
32:24
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And no one is beyond salvation. No one. No one is beyond salvation or God's grace. Toggling over to where you are today.
32:35
Danielle D'Souza Gill
You,
32:36
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Brandon, he is so outspoken and you are so outspoken about the beauty that your family brings to your life. Right? I mean, again, you two did it right, and the fact that we have Sarah, political leaders my gosh. No. It's it's to be celebrated.
32:54
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I celebrate it because I want to be able to point to my kids and say, this is how you can do it. You don't have to do it like I did it. With all of
33:02
Danielle D'Souza Gill
the Only because down and of the Lord.
33:05
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
No, but I know. But your story is one of hope for the future generation, for me. So I want to help uplift that. When he and you, I don't remember if it was your post or his post, but it was the one that said, If family something along the lines, I can't find it on my notes right now, Family's all I have. Yes, I have all I need.
33:30
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I it him playing with an airplane, but how beautiful is that, that you're driving home that narrative and providing an example for everything that is attacking what we believe is so critical and foundational to our way of life here in America? What do you believe? Well, first, I want to ask: Do you experience hate, commentary surrounding those types of videos that are nothing other than beautiful family. Mean, then can they even attack you? I mean, you're, you know, of Indian descent.
34:15
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I'm Latina. Can they attack you as, you know, a minority in that way? Right? You're a blended family, let's call it. I'm sure the answer is yes.
34:27
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
But if so, can you expand upon things that are shared?
34:31
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah. It's so interesting because one of their favorite things Mhmm. To attack is family, weirdly enough. I would think it would be policy disagreements or something, but no, I it's really family because I think for the left, that just implodes their inner worldview. And I think, on a spiritual level, of course, like Satan, demons, they want to go after what's good.
34:56
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Mhmm.
34:56
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Anything that is a light or part of anything pure Mhmm. Towards God, they like, that is what they hate the most. And so, yeah, I'm trying to think of what what gosh, there's so many attacks, but one of them was The Daily Beast ran an article about how Brandon cut me out of an ad.
35:15
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Oh, I saw that.
35:16
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah. He did three ads, two of them with all four of us, and then one of them was the three of them, then meaning Brandon and our two kids, Marigold and Winston. And they were like, oh, yeah, you know, it's whitewashing or you cut her out of the ad because she's Indian or something. Was like I saw that. I didn't understand.
35:34
Danielle D'Souza Gill
But anyways, like I said, I mean, we did other ones with the four of us, but that picture is having three of them. And so I I don't even understand it, to be honest, Sarah, because, we're obviously family. We're obviously related. Yep. And so, it just really doesn't make sense.
35:50
Danielle D'Souza Gill
But like I said, I think that the left just truly hates traditional values. They they truly do because they want to undo all those things. That's been part of their attack on marriage. That's why they want to attack life. Mhmm.
36:04
Danielle D'Souza Gill
They want to attack religious freedom. Mhmm. All of these things that are just so important to human flourishing, they want to make difficult. Like, this is a completely unrelated example, but we were talking about abortion earlier. The left wants to shut down crisis pregnancy centers, crisis pregnancy centers that literally, all they do is help women in need.
36:25
Danielle D'Souza Gill
They just say, we are going to shower you with love and give you, these ultrasounds, health care. We're going to help you with the baby's needs. They literally are on the attack against those people. So that just shows you how evil they are, because they'd rather that woman not have that help and instead be desperate and feel like she needs an abortion. That's how sick they are.
36:47
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Yeah. Yeah. Versus thanking God for the support, the love, yeah, the antithesis of alienation, right? A community. Yeah, I don't understand why people would be against it, and again, I'm glad I don't understand.
37:07
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I'm very grateful for that. But, okay, so thank you for sharing
37:11
Danielle D'Souza Gill
that because Sorry, that was a
37:12
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
little bit of update. No, it's wonderful because you even mentioned the whole religious freedom bit. And I told you, so today, my interview with Congressman Keith Self just launched because of his work against the McKinney Mosque expansion ordeal despite 500 plus constituents stating that they did not want this due to traffic, all of these things, but then Okay. Let's spend a little bit of time here, if you're okay with it, on how Islam is very well versed in using our constitution and our own rules, our own laws, even better than Americans, because they understand it intimately. It's taught to them at a young age, and again, I have Ismaili Muslim friends whom I love.
38:12
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I would literally die for one of my friends in particular, she no longer practices, but that is her, that is her family, and Sam Westrop even said, know, Ismaili Muslims offer great reasons in support of why some are peaceful. But can you speak to the creativity and the approach that is being used against us with respect to that more legalized Islamification and system of Islam to be able to spread their political ideology rapidly in Texas and in our country?
39:05
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah. Well, I think that one of the main vehicles that they've used is this kind of marriage between Islam and the left. You would think it wouldn't make sense because the left is really into the trans and all of these crazy
39:17
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Even LGBTQ, who are who many are are are Christian people that I know, but this is not they will kill them.
39:25
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah. Yeah. So it doesn't really make sense, but I think that the they realize that that's their means to power. Yep. They can't really get it on their own because there's not enough of them, and it's just it wouldn't really work.
39:38
Danielle D'Souza Gill
So they're thinking, how do I get a vehicle to power? But as soon as they get that power Mhmm. They will cut off your rights and take those things away. That's right. Weirdly enough, all the things that the left accuses Christians of is actually what Muslims are like.
39:51
Danielle D'Souza Gill
That's They think it's Handmaid's Tale, all these things. No. Actually, Christianity is loving towards women. That's We actually venerate women, marry. We love to treat women with dignity.
40:04
Danielle D'Souza Gill
I mean, Jesus with the woman at the well or all these other examples. But in Islam, that's not how they view women. No. I mean, obviously, there's obviously these, you know, the the little eye slits and all these things. That's right.
40:16
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And the fact that their prophet Muhammad even, he, I think was I mean, his wife sex with the child, right? So that is part of their religion. So I don't want to get too graphic because of flags and all this. But I'm just saying that if you want to dive into the reality of what is their creed, not just an individual person that did something bad, but what is the actual belief system, I think that view of women and children is just incompatible with a Western or Christian loving view of women and children. And so actually really sad because I think a lot of the left I don't know if they don't realize this, they literally just think it's an alliance for them so they can get extra votes because they can get power.
41:05
Danielle D'Souza Gill
But it's very definitely very incompatible, I think.
41:10
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
It it really is. And, you know, Shannon and I were texting the other day. Shannon votes differently from you and I. She even said, I don't understand it. It's infuriating because the left is making a mockery of this.
41:29
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And so, to that part, I think it's it's that's what's happening. I think that they're making a mockery and stating, oh my goodness. These these bunch of whistleblowers are so stupid. These people don't know what they're talking about. This is not something to be worried about.
41:50
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
It's simply religious freedom. And and these Christians, these quote maniacs need to be shut down because it's too much. Right? So even if that's the case, and what they're spinning, how do you speak to the algorithm of our friends and family who vote differently from us, and invite them to read things and perspective that is different. Just like I tried to with this whole Clancy thing, I literally went down a rabbit hole trying to understand how can they do this.
42:32
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
How can you share perspective? What perspective can you share to people who are confused by their algorithm?
42:42
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah. Well, think America is such a great place and is so beautiful, and we have so much freedom here that in a way, I think it's easy to take that for granted.
42:52
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
That's right.
42:53
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And honestly, I think so many people I mean, one of them, I think she was, her name is slipping my mind, but she's she's a liberal. I think she would refuse to stand for the anthem, she ended up being a prisoner. And she was, like, actually I don't want to put words in her mouth. Basically, I think from the experience of people actually seeing these places. Yeah.
43:11
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Like, if you want to go live in a place like Iran
43:14
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Yeah.
43:14
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Or these places that have this kind of Turkey. Islam and tyranny, I think that is honestly the quickest way to see what that looks like. Because here, I think it's easy to theorize and think about this utopian society or something. Right. Those ideologies carried out lead to a lot of death and destruction.
43:38
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah. And I know here in America at this time and this in 2026, we are just really blessed compared to most of history, which had a lot of war, a lot of just really difficult things happening to people. And I think visiting to see Islam as a government, as a theocracy in that sense, is pretty scary.
44:05
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
It's terrifying. That's I think what I opened my interview up with Keith Self. I said, Mani, myself, the kids were descending upon Istanbul, and my son pulled out his cross. And I said, Buddy, do me a favor. We've never been as a family collectively in a place that's 90 plus percent Muslim.
44:26
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
We just this is a very quick stop. And he was like, please ask Poppy. Poppy is Monty. And Monty kind of paused and said, Buddy, our job is to keep you safe. Just please put it inside so that we don't run into any problems.
44:43
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And that alone was sad making. And then it was followed up with Lewis's words saying, I believe that I will die for Jesus defending my faith. I understand you want to keep me safe. I'll respect that decision. But when I'm an adult, this would not go inside my shirt.
45:06
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And I thought, if I'm not brave enough to go confront, combat, speak against this in our own space as the media. Right? That's what I do here. Who am I? What will I be doing?
45:24
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And Brandon is so brave in the manner in which he snuffs out and exposes ridiculous ideology and evil. And you are as well. What are some of your most controversial, let's call it, shares and posts that you share? Because you command one heck of an audience between Facebook. Oh, come on, there are millions of followers.
45:55
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Facebook, Instagram, X. I mean, you and your husband both are these people. Which are the most controversial? Is it those having to do with, like, Taylor Swift or the ones that you share with your own commentary? Which are the ones that you receive a lot of commentary around when you are trying to and actively snuffing out evil and ridiculousness?
46:24
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Man. Well, for Brandon, I would say definitely his committee hearings because I feel like he's able to just really dismantle the situation and that, For me, I mean, it's far, far, far, far less, I would say I would say really just the cultural issues because I think so much deeper than politics is culture and worldview and other things like that. So weirdly enough, I think just the politics of things, it's almost like that has just become not even something that the left is interested in anymore. I don't know why. I think they're just dead set on getting their way.
47:06
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And in many ways, I think for them, politics is just a vehicle for power, just for control. Because once they get it, I think their thought is, how do we beat you over the head with it to accept it? Mhmm. As opposed to actually discussing it and talking about any of the substance behind it. But going back to what you were saying about just quickly on the the Islam, we went and saw the Hagia Sophia before it was covered with the Muslim coverings.
47:33
Danielle D'Souza Gill
It used to have it has beautiful Christian art. It's absolutely stunning, and it's all very old. And of course, once the more Muslim direction took over there, they didn't want people to see it anymore, and I think those have now been converted to mosques. So really sad. But
47:53
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
See, and that's the thing. Like, we're not trying to erase people's history. You know, that's not and by we, I mean, Christians, we're not trying to do that. Embrace history. Of course, I know people will say, Oh, the Crusades, oh, you know, of course they were trying to erase people's history.
48:14
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I've had those debates with my loved ones, which is fine. We agree to disagree. But thank you for all of your perspective on this. I know that I had wanted to get more deeply entrenched, if you have a few more moments. You able to Yeah, stick around sure.
48:34
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
For fifty more minutes or Because the whole fighting cancel culture is something that is very important. I know now, under this administration, there's far less cancel culture, which is a blessing. Like, yes, there's targeting of, you know, families of faith. You grew up as a daughter of Dinesh D'Souza. Right?
49:01
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I mean, what lessons can you share to our our young people, our youth, our high schoolers, middle schoolers, with respect to courage that it's going to take? Because he clearly has tremendous courage, and you have tremendous courage. But specifically around conviction and standing firm. Maybe speaking to people like myself, who were raised in, even though I went to a Christian school from first to twelfth grade, my parents, you know, may God bless them both, they voted differently from me up until the day that they both passed away. But
49:49
Danielle D'Souza Gill
to the people who have
49:52
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
a Christian foundation and you believe that there is an ability to have them explore their faith, to deepen their conviction, What what can you say to them about how you were raised? Well,
50:12
Danielle D'Souza Gill
I think no one is, you know, too far from God. No sin is too great for for Jesus, and, you know, Jesus loved people. What does he say? You know, that there's the Jew, the Gentile, all these different things. And so I think it could be easy to look at a certain person and be like, oh, you know, they must have always been Christian, or all this person's, yeah, is, But that's not the case, you know?
50:39
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And we see that all the time. So I definitely would say being inspired by courage, by boldness, is so important. I think when we just think about the time we're in now, I think there's so much need for that, for that boldness. And so if what I could say to young people would just be to find that courage and to stand behind that because I really think that is so hard for a young person in the moment because they're finding their identity and there's a lot of peer pressure they might struggle with and judgment and all those things. But I really think that the Lord sees that and he really values really, really values that in that person so much.
51:22
Danielle D'Souza Gill
So, yeah, I would probably just say that
51:26
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
That's wonderful.
51:27
Danielle D'Souza Gill
It will also bear fruit Mhmm. Later. Mhmm.
51:29
Video
And I
51:30
Danielle D'Souza Gill
know that there's can be a little complicated to talk about, but I think spiritual fruit, because I really think we learn so much from challenging situations and learn so much from, following what the Lord wants us to do. And so so many different paths, I think the Lord can use that to strengthen you and grow you and use you in ways you might not even realize. Mhmm.
51:50
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I agree with that entirely. And, are you familiar with the prayer, the litany of humility? Oh, I don't know. You have to say it.
52:01
Danielle D'Souza Gill
You're going have to do it. Well,
52:03
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I don't know it by memory, but I have it here somewhere. Here it is. I've recently started incorporating it into my prayers because, at least for me, with my own children, do this is something that I know helps me, because it really does speak to the desires that are worldly and how to combat it. So I'll just read a little bit of it. So it's: From the desire of being esteemed, deliver me Jesus.
52:34
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
From the desire of being loved, from the desire of being extolled, the desire of being honored, the desire of being praised, the desire of being preferred to others, from the desire of being consulted, desire of being approved, from the fear of being humiliated, from the fear of being despised, from the fear of suffering rebukes, the fear of being caluminated, the fear of being forgotten, fear of being ridiculed, fear of being wronged, fear of being suspected, that others may be loved more than I. Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. That's just a portion of it. Thank you. And it's a beautiful prayer that I recently found because I don't ever want it to be about me, and I know that your father has faith.
53:20
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And so I didn't know if there were secrets that he shared with you, like this and this is not a secret, the litany of humility, it's been around for thousands and thousands of years, but it's still something that speaks against and actively binds my own selfish desires. See, here I go with the tears, Shannon. My own selfish desires of being whatever it is, whatever fleshly things. And I ask my children to pray it with me because I don't want them to suffer from the fact that they're the only ones without social media, right? And it doesn't bother them.
54:08
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
The fact that they're the only ones in eighth grade without TikTok, well maybe not the only ones, there's maybe some few others, but it's those small things, at least, that I'm incorporating now to my own walk. Do you have anything like that that you
54:29
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yes, definitely. First of I'd say that's awesome, they're on social media. I wasn't on social media in high school either.
54:34
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
No, they're not.
54:35
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Oh, you weren't? I wasn't.
54:36
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Well, yeah, you're ten years younger than me, so that's a good thing, because it didn't exist for me.
54:42
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Yeah, no, that's true. I think it had just started being a thing. I think at least Facebook or, you know, just people having a profile or something. I was so grateful I didn't have one because literally, I think I made one, and then I'd say, I'm going to check this for five minutes. Then all of a sudden, twenty minutes pass, thirty minutes pass, and I'd be like, what?
55:01
Danielle D'Souza Gill
I have stuff I need to do. Then I literally was like, I just have to delete this because this is just a time hole.
55:06
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Yep.
55:09
Danielle D'Souza Gill
But anyways, what do think I say? Oh, the other thing. Okay. What I was going to say was, I think that passage about whatever's true, whatever's good, whatever's beautiful, think about these things. That helped me a lot, because literally sometimes this is going to sound really dumb but I would literally think to myself, what should I think about right now?
55:28
Danielle D'Souza Gill
I feel like I could go all these different directions right now. Should I be worried about something? Should I just work on something, like with schoolwork or whatever? And sometimes it's like, wouldn't know how to organize my time. Yeah.
55:41
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And so I think when I was younger, that first helped me a lot. So it still does today. But it would help me a lot because I would just think, well, if I was thinking about something that's good, true, beautiful, something like that, it's not wasted time.
55:53
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And
55:54
Danielle D'Souza Gill
it can only lead to good things.
55:56
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Mhmm.
55:56
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And so I think that leads you to pray more or to read the Bible more. And I just think you can never go wrong Mhmm. Going that direction and appear in a moment of uncertainty.
56:11
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Thank you for that, because like I said, your mother and your father clearly did something right. So I love to share all the tricks, all the secrets about these people who were able to do it properly. And I'm writing a book about the fact that nothing about my walk was right. I mean, dear Lord, I don't even think I've ever said this on air before, but I think I was in sixth grade and I shoplifted Danielle. I put on a bathing suit and all this stuff under my clothes.
56:47
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
It was at Mervin's. And my mom later, she saw that I had a new bathing suit and asked, Where did come from? And I was like, Mervyn's. She was like, Sarah. But again, my mom, she was abused, and so conflict was not her thing.
57:10
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I mean, you would bet your buttons. I would march Liliana over to that Mervin's and have her meet with the department manager and this and say, now this and you're grounded, and I suffered no consequences, and again because my personality was much stronger than both of my parents. I was very willful and very outspoken, so I think often times she just didn't want to have confrontation with me. It's really unfortunate, and as a woman who was physically and mentally abused, my mother, I understand, right? I give her that grace.
57:48
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
So I'm serious when I say I did everything wrong. The mistakes that I made, they used to be shameful for me until I went through my process of healing, but I just desperately want people to know that no one is beyond redemption. No one is beyond changing their life and trying to figure out how to do it differently.
58:15
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And no one is better than someone else either. We all need Jesus.
58:19
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
And that is of the
58:20
Danielle D'Souza Gill
only reason, not because of our actions or any other things. It's because of Christ Mhmm. And his sacrifice
58:26
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
That's right.
58:26
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And his redemption.
58:27
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Absolutely.
58:27
Danielle D'Souza Gill
You know, everybody has their things that they struggle with.
58:32
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Yep. Yep. But again, I am just grateful to you. I'm grateful to your husband. I'm grateful to you both for providing an example for the future of America, because we need it so desperately, so desperately today.
58:48
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Is there anything that you would like to share at this point that we haven't touched upon? Maybe anything that you'd like to to discuss?
58:55
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Oh, wow. Well, gosh. I feel like we had a very robust conversation, so it was fantastic.
59:03
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
Me too.
59:04
Danielle D'Souza Gill
And we got touched on so many things. I guess I would just say, just keep up your great work, and I know that you sharing your story and all of your vulnerabilities, I think, is God's gonna really use that for a lot of
59:16
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
things as I pray so. That's the only that's my only hope.
59:19
Danielle D'Souza Gill
I'm very I'm very excited about it.
59:21
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
So Thank you, Danielle.
59:22
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Thank you for sharing those things.
59:24
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
I have one last thing. One last thing. Yeah. Specifically to women.
59:28
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Okay.
59:29
Sarah Zubiate Bennett
With respect to Ken Paxton. So, right, I talk about how I am I have this whatever. I far from perfect. Okay. So for women who are torn about who to vote for in this upcoming race, what can you share possibly about why as a woman, you, who has led a wonderful example for so many, how is it that you and your husband can show up in support of Ken Paxton today?
60:07
Danielle D'Souza Gill
Well, I just don't even think there's a close contest. I think the things that Talarico believes are so radical, and not just radical, but really evil. Yeah. And I think believing in the six genders, that God is non binary, the justification for abortion from the Bible, all of these things are just absolutely just not even something that I think you can entertain. And maybe I'm speaking to someone who's maybe a Christian woman.

But I would just say that that is not someone that represents the views of Texas. I don't think that Texas would largely agree with those views. And I think that this is definitely a spiritual battle, and the left is gonna do everything they can. They always try to flip Texas because they wanna try to get to the heart of America, and we are just such an amazing state. And so they would love to to take it over.

So I think focusing on making sure people know the truth about Talarico is very important. I don't think he's totally defined to a lot of people yet, and so getting that message out, I think, will be very important.

Thank you for that. Because I understand how someone would want to vote for him. I mean, he seems kind and handsome and level headed, but the words that come out are are are evil, come out of his mouth. And here's the thing, you know, I've had someone whom I love very much tell me, well, look at Paxton. Stuff that he's done is evil.

I'm like, uh-huh, uh-huh. However, someone that does things maybe that one regrets, seeks repentance for in their in the privacy of their own space. That is not for me to call out. But when someone who is kind and handsome and seemingly very level headed speaks directly against the tenants of my faith, that's when I will speak out against them. That's when I will say, I will never cast my vote for that, because no, God is not nonbinary.

I'm surrounded by tons of prophetically gifted people. I can absolutely say, God is not non binary. Of course, the fact that Mary was given a choice with her body, right? How he said that about, oh, that's why we should support a pro choice candidate? Is it

Danielle D'Souza Gill
Mary could have aborted Jesus? Exactly!

And I'm like, yeah, there is no way in my life that I could or will remain silent. Because I remain silent on many candidates, but I feel particularly convicted in my faith and my relationship with God to at least shed some light on that. So thank you for your words.

We need as many people as possible, too. Think if Republicans at least turn out to vote, then I don't think we will see Talarico win. I really don't. Think he's just relying on the turnout on his side. And so we just can't have our side stay home for that.

It's just too important.
