It is truly scary how many stories are floating around right now about schools allowing students to secretly “socially transition” without their parents knowing. There was national outrage back in March when a California mother came forward about her daughter being allowed to transition at school without her knowledge, and there are dozens of similar headlines about separate instances. We’ve even heard about schools across the country are implementing “transition closets”, which allow students to change into the clothing of the opposite gender at school without their parents knowing and change back before they return home. This is to be expected from liberal states like California or New York, but it’s also happening right here in Texas.
I run a nonprofit organization called Protect Texas Kids, and one of our main focuses is on fixing the far-left indoctrination and harm that K-12 children are being exposed to by liberal adults. We ask parents and community members to send in tips about such things happening in their school districts, and we share those tips with our followers on social media and in our newsletter. We recently received a tip from a grandmother, who we’ll call Mary, in Carrollton-Farmer’s Branch ISD (a school district in the Dallas area) who said that her granddaughter had been allowed to transition at school without the school informing her or asking for her input. The student and parent names in this story have been changed at the request of the family.
Mary started her story by saying that her child, who we’ll call Katy, has struggled with mental health issues and is extremely socially vulnerable. When Katy got to Creekside High School, she was recruited into the school’s Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club (which has now been changed to “Gender and Sexualities Alliance”). Katy became disturbingly close with one of the teacher sponsors, Ms. Rachel Cain, who allegedly spoke with Katy about her own sexual preferences and partner. Mary told us that she quickly became concerned with Katy’s involvement in the group and called the school to get more information on the club and ask for the meeting times. She was directed to another club sponsor, Mr.Campbell, who told her that he must be careful when speaking to parents about GSA because some students “haven’t come out at home yet,” so she was left in the dark.
This sent up red flags for Mary, and she said that Katy began to speak at home about transitioning to become a boy by getting “top surgery”, an irreversible surgery that removes both breasts. Katy had never talked about transitioning or her sexual identity until joining GSA. As Mary dug further into the situation, she discovered that Katy had requested to use he/him pronouns while at school and to go by “Ace”; not only did the school comply, but they also never reached out to Mary about it to inform her about her student’s situation. Mary told me that this has been a huge blow to Katy’s mental health, and she’s now been put in heavy counseling and therapy sessions to reverse the damage caused by her experience with the GSA club. She’s also been pulled out of school.
One of the most frustrating aspects of Mary’s story was the lack of action from the school. Not only did they purposefully leave her in the dark about her student socially transitioning, but they remained silent even though she affirmatively reached out and asked specific questions about Katy. Mary was able to speak with the school’s principal, Joseph LaPuma, once in the spring, but he went silent after that. She also told us that she reached out to the superintendent and never got a response.
Horrific stories like this are popping up across the country. The left does not want parental involvement in education, and they are actively seeking to remove it. The left wants to groom young children to “come out” as LGBTQ, and they know that if parents are aware they’ll be forced to stop. Young minds are extremely vulnerable to the propaganda they are constantly being fed, and the left is absolutely taking advantage of this.
