A multi-vehicle crash in Dallas left one person dead and two others injured on the morning of January 23, according to Dallas Police.

The Dallas Police Department said the incident began in the 1300 block of East State Highway 121 at around 2:45 a.m.

Dallas Police said a Ford Escape SUV was in the left lane, and a Ford F150 truck was traveling in the right lane when the Escape allegedly collided with the back left side of the F150, causing the truck to flip over and crash.

Dallas Police revealed that the driver of the truck was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a report on NBC 5 News, police said the driver of the Escape lost control of the vehicle after hitting the truck and then crossed over the center median, flipping over and sliding down the westbound side of Highway 121.

Dallas Police said the driver of the Escape was also not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle.

A third vehicle, a Dodge Ram pickup truck, was traveling westbound and crashed into the driver’s side of the Escape.

Investigators are now trying to determine if the Escape driver was ejected before or after the Dodge truck crashed into his vehicle. The Escape driver is in critical condition and receiving treatment in a Dallas hospital.

Police said the Dodge truck driver was also not wearing his seatbelt and was transported to Medical City Lewisville Hospital with multiple injuries.

The Dallas Police Department said charges are not expected to be filed against the driver of the third vehicle. However, investigators are working to determine the cause of the first crash.
