Virginia Cornelius Wright was born on August 24, 1929, in Marshall, Texas, and passed away June 9, 2021 in the Midlothian Healthcare facility in Midlothian Texas.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Terrell “Shorty” Wright of over 60 years.
She is survived by her son Ron Wright and wife Karla, and Doug Wright and Tina, sisters Marie, Gail, Delaney, Willa, and Debbie; 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
After moving to Waxahachie in 1951, she attended First Assembly of God Church for 40 years and was involved in outreach programs, Women’s Missionary Council, and as a Sunday School Teacher. At one time she sent a daily devotional by E-mail to over 400 missionaries around the world.
She worked at South Home Furniture which became Flexsteel Industries from which she retired. As Mrs. Santa Claus, she helped Santa, (“Shorty”) on his rounds of nursing homes and with children at the church. She created small handmade decorative items for the nursing home folks and hand delivered them each week. She sewed blankets for as many newborns as she could for church members. In her spare time, she quilted, quilts and worked in her flower garden.
