PATSY’S OBITUARY
On Tuesday, July 6, 2021, Patsy Salazar Macias, devoted wife and loving mother, went to be with the Lord at the age of 75 in Dallas, Texas.
Patsy was born October 28, 1945, in Houston, Texas to Gonzalo and Ventura Salazar. As a child, the Salazar family lived in Nebraska where she learned to play baseball with her brothers and sisters. Patsy’s family returned to Texas some years later. On July 28, 1974, she married Manuel Vaquera Macias. Together they raised their family in Dallas, Texas.
Patsy had a passion for painting as well as for arts and crafts. Some of her artwork is on display in her home garden, which she tended to with great care and attention to detail. Patsy read and studied the Bible daily and was a faithful member of Arcadia Park Hispanic Baptist Church. She used her talents and studies to teach Bible lessons during Sunday School to both young and old. Patsy had a compassionate heart, oftentimes delivering food, clothing, and good will to those in need. She passed on her love for baseball to her children and grandchildren.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Gonzalo and Ventura Salazar. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Manuel V. Macias; children, Catalina Estela Lechuga (Cathy) and husband Miguel, Pablo Macias and wife Christina Pena, Esther Strickland and husband Juan Carlos, Manuel Macias Jr and wife Natasha, Rosalinda Macias Rodriguez and husband Adolfo B., Manuel Lopez and wife Maria Helda, Dora Raquel Lopez and husband Eli Hancock; siblings, Richard Salazar, Christine Diaz, Gonzalo Salazar Jr, Johnny Salazar, Ventura Quijas, Manuel (Joe) Salazar, Isador Salazar, Sophia Rawlins, Rachel Salazar; 21 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many other loving family and friends.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021, from 5pm to 8pm. A funeral service will be held at 10am. Both funeral services will be held at Hughes Funeral Home on 400 E Jefferson Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75203. Flowers may be sent to this address.
