Florence “Biddie” Mildred Bradford
MAY 6, 1928 – JUNE 9, 2021
Florence Mildred “Biddie” Bradford entered God’s Heavenly Kingdom for eternal life and peace on June 9, 2021 surrounded by her loving family following a stroke one year prior. Biddie was born May 6, 1928 in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She is the daughter of Andrew and Florence Erwin and is one of ten children. Biddie lived and worked in Charlotte after high school, where she met and married Ben Terry in 1951 at the age of 23. Soon after, he was called to serve in the Korean War. Upon his return, they moved west, and after several years, they landed in Dallas in 1959, which became their forever home. Biddie helped Ben start the family business. Together, they raised three children. Unfortunately, she lost her first love, Ben, in 1980. Fifteen years later, one of her best friends introduced her to her second love, Bob Bradford. They had 23 glorious years together before he passed in 2018.
She was known as a woman of tremendous faith, beginning each day with scripture. Biddie was deeply devoted to Highland Park United Methodist Church for over 50 years, serving on several boards, but her passion was her weekly commitment to ministering to others from the Prayer Tower. She was a member of the Wesleyan Fellowship Class at HPUMC. In addition, she was involved in a weekly bible study known as the “Arcady Ladies”. Besides her commitment to church, she was also a member of several clubs and organizations, including Dallas Woman’s Club, Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, Bard & Ballad, Lakeside Browning Club, The Calliope Dance Club, United Methodist Women Circle 20, Armstrong Review Club and Mary K Craig Class. She was also a former Board Member of Dallas Baptist University.
Growing up, Biddie loved and was loved by her classmates, teachers and principals. Throughout her life, she was described as the sweetest, most gracious woman. She had the rare gift of making people feel special and loved. She loved people, always made time for friends and family, and was always dressed with class and style. She was beloved by her 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was known by her grandchildren as Grandmom or Mama. The grandkids looked forward to sleepovers, Biddie’s fabulous cooking and many hours of fun and games. She cherished her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Biddie was predeceased by Benjamin Franklin Terry (first husband), Robert Bradford (second husband), David Terry (son) and seven of her siblings. She is survived by her two sisters, Ibie Crawford and Barbara Hardin. She is also survived by her children: Michael Franklin Terry and wife Mary, Julie Terry Mills and husband Jim, and grandchildren: Melissa Terry Pridmore and husband Dustin, Michael Franklin Terry, Jr., Travis De Loache Terry and wife Claire, David Alan Terry, Jr., Blake Beall Terry, Christie Mills Wilkins and husband Trevor, James Dunaway Mills and wife Linzie, Benjamin Terry Mills, Michael Thomas Mills and 8 great grandchildren with another on the way. Biddie was also survived by her step family, LeAnne Bradford and husband John O’Connor, and Ray Bradford and wife Nancy, and her 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Our families would like to thank the caregivers that so lovingly cared for her every need, especially Maggie Anderson, her dedicated companion of many years.
The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 16th at 10:00 AM at Highland Park United Methodist Church in the Sanctuary, 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75205. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a gift to Highland Park United Methodist Church in her loving memory.
