OBITUARY
Ernesto Valencia
MARCH 31, 1949 – JUNE 8, 2021
Ernesto Valencia was born in El Paso, Texas to Roberto Valencia and Virginia Baca on Thursday, March 31, 1949. Ernesto passed away in Mesquite, Texas on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. Ernesto served in the United States Marine Corps from 1971 to 1975, where he earned the rank of Lance Corporal and served in the Vietnam War. He later married the love of his life, Fidelina Coronado, together they shared over 30 years of happy marriage and raised 5 wonderful children together. He was very active in his local community, and participated in organizations including: The Knights of Columbus Divine Mercy Council 13158, The Knights of Columbus Mother Teresa Council 2506, American Legion Post 504, The Vietnam Veterans of America Mesquite Chapter, The Hispanic Forum of Mesquite, The Divine Mercy Catholic Church Finance Committee, and the Divine Mercy Catholic Church Carnival Committee, and he also served as Precinct Judge 3312. Ernesto had a long and respected career as a correctional officer and later retired as an associate warden. After retirement, Ernesto worked for Dallas County, the catholic church, and was a substitute teacher for DISD. In his free time, Ernesto enjoyed working with his hands, especially wood working, spending time with his family, and listening to the classics, jazz, and country music. He is survived by his loving wife, Fidelina Valencia; sons, Ernesto A. Valencia and his wife Mary, and Carlos L. Valencia and his wife Gail; Daughters, Michelle N. Coronado, Rebecca N. Coronado and Husband Jason Smith, and Virginia N. Valencia; brothers, Roberto Valencia Jr, and Jose Luis Valencia Sister Olga Chavez; grandchildren, Larry Michael Keith, Jessica Lee Walter, Dominic Luis Valencia, Tristyn Lee Valencia, Izaiah Ernesto Valencia, Jorge Daniel Orozco, and Jack Valencia; great-grandchildren, Noah Michael Keith, Isaac Valencia Walter, Emilee Marie Dillon. A Visitation will be held Monday, June 14, 2021 in the chapel of Sparkman Crane Funeral Home, at 10501 Garland Rd, Dallas, TX 75218, from 4 to 8pm with a Rosary the same night at 6pm. The Mass will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 2:30pm, at Divine Mercy of Our Lord Catholic Church, at 1585 E. Cartwright Rd, Mesquite, TX 75149. All family and friends are kindly invited to attend the services.
