Obituary for Dorothy Douglas
Dorothy Rudell Douglas was born on May 22, 1932, in Dallas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rudell Emma Dittrich and Arvey Cleo Douglas, her brother Richard Harry Douglas and favorite cousin Dwaine Clark Douglas. She died on May 23, 2021, just hours after celebrating her birthday. She fought a short battle with cancer. Her example of determination, faith and courage will inspire those who love her to honor her by living their best lives to the fullest. We are grateful for the care she received at the Wellington.
Dorothy was a lifelong member of the church of Christ. The assurance of her salvation is cause for great rejoicing both in heaven and here below. She will be remembered for her lilting laughter and perfect pitch soprano voice which we heard when she sang “Happy Birthday” with us at her little party.
Her work careers included a short stint as a typesetter, 25 years with Reynolds Aluminum, and real estate. She held a broker’s license until well into her late ‘80’s. Dorothy continued to work part-time for a CPA firm until the October 2019 tornado took out the building.
Dorothy is survived by her niece Kathryn Douglas, great nieces Jasmine Nelis and Raven Jones, double great niece Abby and many cousins and friends.
Graveside service will take place on Wednesday June 2, 2021 at 1:00 pm, Restland Memorial Park – Wisdom.
