Obituary for Carl Edward Monahan
Carl Edward Monahan, 84 of Dallas, Texas passed away on May 28, 2021. He was born on October 1, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan to Terrence and Dorothy Monahan. Carl was one of four children raised in Michigan. After graduating from high school in Romeo, Michigan in 1955 he joined the United States Navy. Giving them 4 years and achieving the rank of Petty Officer, Third Class. One of his greatest moments was marrying the love of his life, Ruth Tollefson on October 24, 1983. They would remind together until her death in 2013. Carl lived for a time in South Carolina, and then making his way back to Dallas, Texas in 2013, to be closer to grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was involved with the Elks #71 and was the Exalted Ruler from 1986-1987. Carl worked for F. Schumacher& Co., and would retire from them in the late 90’s. He was also a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dallas. Carl is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Ruth Tollefson Monahan. Surviving are his two sisters, Rosemary Henderson of Shelby Township, MI and Cheryl Zuelke Romeo, MI and brother William of Romeo, MI; also 9 nieces and nephews, Bob, Tom, Jeff, Karen, Terry, Rick, Jennifer, Steve and Sherry. He is also survived by grandchildren: Michael; Kelley and wife Cindy; and Tara Green. Great grandchildren: Kayle and Carter Green.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021, at 3:00pm to 5:00pm. The graveside service will be on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 11:00am at his final resting place in section Veteran II at Restland Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
