A woman standing directly behind President Donald Trump during an Oval Office ceremony Monday has become an unexpected internet sensation, with social media users questioning who she is, why she was there, and even joking about whether her unusually still expression and repeated nodding made her look like an “AI robot” or a “cyborg.”
This woman is a cyborg. Stock your bunker. You’ve been warned. pic.twitter.com/RuNkbY1DIF

The woman is Jayme Leagh Franklin, a media entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of The Conservateur. She is also a former Trump White House official who previously served as director of correspondence during Trump’s first administration.
Her appearance Monday was not a mystery guest appearance. Franklin was at the White House for Trump’s signing of an executive order on childhood vaccine recommendations.
Who Is Jayme Leagh Franklin?
Franklin has a lengthy history in politics and media.
According to her biography from the Aspen Ideas Festival, Franklin founded The Conservateur in November 2019 while attending the University of California, Berkeley. The Conservateur describes itself as a media and lifestyle brand focused on culture, fashion, beauty, politics, and conservative Christian women.
Before launching the publication, Franklin worked as a legislative intern in the U.S. Senate, served as a coalitions coordinator for the Trump 2020 campaign, and later became director of correspondence in Trump’s first White House, according to the Aspen Institute biography.
She also has worked for Fox News and has become a commentator and media personality in right-wing circles.
Franklin’s LinkedIn profile identifies her as the founder and CEO of The Conservateur and host of “Sincerely American.”
Franklin is a longtime figure in politics and media, although her appearance at Monday’s ceremony introduced her to a much wider audience.
Why Was She Standing Behind Trump?
This is one of the biggest questions surrounding the viral video, and there is a straightforward answer: Franklin was present for Trump’s August 10 signing of an executive order concerning childhood vaccine recommendations.
The White House described the order as establishing “Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations.” The order directs federal agencies to recognize a revised set of childhood vaccine recommendations and calls for greater flexibility in how childhood immunizations are administered.
Franklin herself addressed the appearance on social media:
In an August 10 post on X, she wrote, “I was so honored to join President Trump in the Oval Office today for the signing of an Executive Order recognizing Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations.”
Franklin said the order was an important step toward “maximizing parental choice” and aligning childhood vaccine recommendations with scientific evidence and practices in other developed countries.
The Viral Question: Was She There to Wake Up Trump?
This is where the internet speculation gets ahead of the evidence.
Video from the ceremony shows Trump appearing to close his eyes at various points while other officials were speaking. The moment generated substantial online discussion, with some social media users focusing not only on Trump but also on Franklin’s movements behind him.
Some posts have speculated, jokingly or otherwise, that Franklin’s apparent role was to keep Trump awake or alert him when he appeared to nod off.
Claims she has a button fitted on her belly, and when she gets the nod that he’s asleep she moves her hand and presses a button that wakes him. They’re calling her The Zapper. No idea if it’s true but it *appears* to line up. pic.twitter.com/hgx4x6iQp6

There is no evidence establishing that Franklin was assigned such a role.
Why Did People Suddenly Start Asking Who She Was?
The simplest explanation is that people who had never heard of Franklin suddenly saw her standing prominently behind the President in an Oval Office ceremony.
Viewers who recognized the more prominent figures in the room — Trump, Kennedy, and Bhattacharya — had little reason to immediately recognize Franklin.
Her position in the footage made her particularly noticeable.
As people started to inquire about her identity, her background became a significant part of the narrative, leading to increased attention on the original clip that featured her distinctive mannerisms.
