The White House called on Democrats Monday to explain their connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, questioning why party leaders haven’t matched Republicans’ transparency on the issue.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed that Democrats “selectively leaked emails” to “create a fake narrative to smear President Donald Trump.”
At a press conference on November 12, she called the latest disclosures “another distraction campaign by the Democrats and the liberal media.”
The statement from the Trump administration highlighted multiple Democrats’ financial and personal ties to Epstein, even after his 2008 conviction.
Trump urged House Republicans to release Epstein-related files, stating in a November 17 press release, “We have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics in order to deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party.”
The White House pointed to Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-V.I.), who received $30,000 from Epstein for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee after his conviction. Plaskett also accepted maximum personal campaign donations from him.
According to documents cited by the administration, the former Virgin Islands governor’s wife told Epstein, “We would have a friend in Stacey” regarding the donations. Plaskett was reportedly texting Epstein during a committee hearing.
The statement noted former President Bill Clinton flew on Epstein’s aircraft 26 times. One Epstein victim wrote she saw Clinton on the financier’s private island with two young women, a claim corroborated by a former Clinton aide.
Other Democrats mentioned include former Harvard President Larry Summers, described as having a “long relationship” with Epstein, who called himself Summers’ “wing man.” Journalist Katie Couric dined at Epstein’s home after his conviction and jail time.
LinkedIn founder and Democratic megadonor Reid Hoffman visited Epstein’s island and planned to stay at his residence in Manhattan.
The Democratic National Committee retained $32,000 in donations from Epstein, despite others returning theirs.
The administration also cited emails showing author Michael Wolff “encouraged Jeffrey Epstein to blackmail then-presidential candidate Trump — insisting the convicted pedophile could generate a ‘debt’ from him.”
“It’s time for Democrats to answer for their longstanding ties to Epstein,” the White House concluded. “Then, we can get back to what matters to the American people.”
