Federal safety regulators issued two separate recalls affecting shoppers at Walmart and Amazon, warning that a children’s bicycle helmet and a popular camping stove both pose serious injury risks.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said about 24,300 Outdoor Master children’s and youth helmets sold online at both retailers fail to meet federal safety standards for positional stability and head coverage.
“The helmets can fail to protect the user in the event of a crash, posing a risk of injury or death due to head injury,” the CPSC stated.
The recalled models are the blue OM-TD BIKE with dinosaur print and black straps, and the dark green OM-KSKB with yellow straps. Both have “Outdoor Master” printed on the side or back. They sold for $20 to $32 from June 2024 through February 2025.
No injuries have been reported. Owners should immediately stop using the helmets and contact Outdoor Master at [email protected] or via the company’s website to request a refund.
In a separate action, Walmart recalled roughly 201,000 Ozark Trail tabletop butane camping stoves after 26 reports of the units exploding or catching fire, including 16 cases of second-degree burns.
The dark green stoves, model BG2247A1, carry an orange Ozark Trail logo on the front. They were sold in stores and online from March 2023 through October 2025, priced from $8 to $45.
Consumers should stop using the stoves immediately and return them to any Walmart for a refund.
