U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) has tested positive for COVID-19, he announced on Twitter Monday morning.
Sen. Cornyn wrote that he is vaccinated and boosted and will continue working remotely while adding that he is “fine.”
“While quarantining I’ll continue to fight Chuck Schumer and Joe Manchin’s massive tax increase on working families remotely, consistent with CDC guidelines,” Cornyn tweeted.

Sen. Cornyn was referencing the $369 billion reconciliation bill proposed by Democrats, which includes health care, climate, and tax measures. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is expected to put the package up for a vote this week.
If the vote does take place this week, Sen. Cornyn tweeted that he will be present to cast his vote while complying with CDC guidelines.

Another prominent Texas politician, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, tested positive for COVID-19 on July 23. Before that, President Joe Biden tested positive, and, despite testing negative on Wednesday, he tested positive again over the weekend in what has been dubbed a “rebound” case.
