The Department of Homeland Security hired an immigration officer who previously worked for the Palestinian Liberation Organization, according to a report.

The federal officer vetted immigrants as she publicly praised Hamas’ terrorist attacks against Israel earlier this month.

Nejwa Ali was hired by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in 2019 as an asylum officer, a job which entails “applying immigration laws and regulations to asylum applications,” according to an investigation by the Daily Wire.

In January of this year, she changed jobs at the agency, becoming an adjudication officer for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS). Her responsibilities included analyzing new or amended legislation and policy, preparing written reports of her findings, and reviewing and making determinations on cases related to immigration benefits.

Before her employment at DHS, Ali worked as a spokesperson for the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) — the official representative of the Palestinian people — at its Washington, D.C., office from 2016 to 2017.

Ali has a history of making anti-Israel social media posts, including ones that called for Israel’s “downfall” following Hamas’ unprecedented terrorist attacks this month that killed an estimated 1,400 Israelis and foreign nationals.

“F*** Israel, the government, and its military. Are you ready for your downfall?” Ali wrote on Instagram after the attacks.

“Free PALESTINE,” she captioned an Instagram post that depicted armed terrorists paragliding into Israel.

“F*** Israel and any Jew that supports Israel,” she posted on Facebook amid the terrorist attacks.

Ali was put on leave by DHS after the Daily Wire investigation was published, the Washington Examiner reported.

CIS spokesperson Matthew Bourke told the Daily Wire, “USCIS strongly condemns antisemitism and the use of violent rhetoric in any form.”

“USCIS employees are held to high ethical standards both on and off duty, including their presence on social media,” Bourke said. “Any violation of these standards is taken seriously by the agency.”

In 2018, former President Donald Trump shut down the PLO’s office in Washington, D.C., where Ali had previously worked. His administration said the decision was made because the PLO had failed to support a peace mission with Israel.

Ali has a years-long history of anti-Israel social media posts, dating back to 2016. Previous posts included calls to “BOYCOTT ISRAEL” and “End AID 2 ISRAEL.”

“F*** APARTHEID Israel and any Israeli that supports that bulls***. F*** you, may Allah forgive you. and spare us the crocodile tears, I sure as hell give zero f***s,” she wrote.
