The United States is on track to experience negative net migration for the first time in at least 50 years, a dramatic reversal from 2024’s 2.8 million net migration figure.

This unprecedented development follows President Donald Trump’s aggressive immigration enforcement policies during his second term. The White House highlighted the milestone as evidence of Trump fulfilling campaign promises to seal the border.

“We may be dealing with — get this — negative net migration to the United States in 2025,” Chief Data Analyst Harry Enten said on CNN. “That would be the first time there is negative net migration in this country in at least 50 years.”

The analysis aired as part of a broader segment examining Trump’s first six months in office. Enten called Trump “the most influential President of this century — and probably dating back a good portion of last century.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested 150,000 illegal aliens since January, according to the Washington Examiner. Border crossings have plummeted to record lows under the Trump administration’s enforcement measures.

The White House credits the historic shift to Trump’s border security initiatives and deportation operations. Officials say the administration prioritizes removing criminal illegal aliens from American communities.

“We are seeing record low levels, way down from where we are during the Biden Administration,” Enten noted. The dramatic reversal represents a cornerstone achievement for Trump’s second-term agenda.
