Commentator Tucker Carlson announced he will no longer support the Republican Party ahead of the November midterm elections, stating there is “no chance” he would back it.

Carlson is not becoming a Democrat. He has repeatedly expressed disdain for the Democratic Party throughout his career. Carlson said he was “Not gonna support the Democratic Party. I don’t know what I’m going to do.”

These statements were made in an appearance on the “Can’t Be Censored” podcast. He cited the party’s failure to prioritize American citizens over foreign interests, particularly amid the ongoing U.S. involvement in the Iran conflict that began in February 2026.

“I’ve been a consistent defender for 35 years of the Republican Party, I mean very consistent defender, but there’s no defending this…. So no, I’m out. And if I’m out, then I think a lot of other people are out,” Carlson added.

Carlson, born Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson on May 16, 1969, in San Francisco, California, is 57 years old.

He has historically been connected to Republican causes despite being registered as a Democrat in Washington, D.C., from 2006 to 2020. He has said that registration allowed him to vote in local primaries and that he voted for more corrupt candidates to maintain the status quo against progressivism.

He switched his registration to Republican around 2020 and has been a prominent voice in media, hosting “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Fox News from 2016 until 2023. He now hosts “Tucker” on X and runs The Tucker Carlson Show. Carlson lives primarily in Bryant Pond, Maine, with additional properties in Boca Grande, Florida.

His break with the GOP centers on foreign policy differences. Carlson has long advocated “America First” principles, criticizing interventions he believes put other nations’ interests ahead of U.S. interests. The party’s stance on the Iran conflict appears to have been a breaking point.

Carlson’s comments have drawn mixed reactions. Some Trump allies criticized the move, while others noted it aligns with ongoing debates over foreign policy and domestic priorities.

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz stated the following on X:

This is a developing story, and The Dallas Express will provide updates as additional reactions from elected officials and further details become available.
