President Donald Trump responded to last week’s gruesome beheading at a Dallas motel by vowing tougher action against what he called “Illegal Alien Criminals,” criticizing President Joe Biden for releasing the Cuban suspect back into the United States despite a violent criminal record across multiple states.

As The Dallas Express previously reported, police arrested 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, a Cuban illegal alien, on a capital murder charge after the machete killing of 50-year-old Chandra Nagamallaiah at the Downtown Suites motel on Samuell Boulevard.

President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social calling the suspect a “Cuban Illegal Alien Criminal.”

Court records reviewed by The Dallas Express show Cobos-Martinez has a history of arrests in Florida, California, and Texas:

  • Florida (2017): Arrested in Brevard County for grand theft of a motor vehicle after stealing a Mercedes; the charge was later dropped.
  • California (2017): Arrested in El Dorado County for false imprisonment and attempted carjacking. Police said Cobos-Martinez, while intoxicated and naked, tried to force his way into a woman’s car by pulling her hair and clothes.
  • Texas (2018): Arrested in Harris County for indecency with a child involving a 14-year-old girl. The charge was dismissed in 2023 for insufficient evidence, but he served a year on a related assault conviction.

These charges align with the offenses cited in Trump’s Truth Social post.

ICE Release

ICE confirmed Cobos-Martinez had been in federal custody until January but was released under supervision after Cuba refused to accept his repatriation. He remains in Dallas County jail on a capital murder charge with an ICE detainer.

The Dallas Beheading

Witnesses told police the attack began over a dispute involving a broken washing machine. Surveillance video and an arrest affidavit say Cobos-Martinez retrieved a machete, chased Nagamallaiah, and repeatedly struck him until he was decapitated. Officers arrested him a block away, still armed with the weapon and wearing a blood-soaked shirt.
