President Donald Trump condemned the senseless crime that resulted in the death of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, who fled the war in her home country in 2022 and sought safety in the United States.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, a North Carolina judge’s January decision to release Decarlos Brown — a homeless man diagnosed with schizophrenia and a repeat offender — is under fire after Brown was later charged in Zarutska’s stabbing death aboard a Charlotte light rail train.

Surveillance footage of Zarutska’s killing fueled national outrage. The reaction stemmed from both the nature of the crime and what some described as silence from Democrat leaders and legacy media outlets, according to the New York Post.

“For far too long, Americans have been forced to put up with Democrat-run cities that set loose savage, bloodthirsty criminals to prey on innocent people,” Trump said in a video from the White House.

Trump squarely blamed Democratic judges and politicians for Zarutska’s death.

Holding up a photo of Brown moments before the murder, Trump did not mince words: “She was slaughtered by a deranged monster.”

Trump blasted Democratic judges for Brown’s repeated releases despite his violent record. “We cannot allow a depraved criminal element of violent repeat offenders to continue spreading destruction and death throughout our country,” Trump said. “Twenty-four of the top 25 most dangerous cities in America are run by Democrat mayors. Fifty people were murdered in Chicago in recent weeks, with hundreds being shot.”

Trump vowed to restore law and order. “It’s time to stop this madness. The people of our country need to insist on protection, safety, LAW & ORDER,” he declared.

Pointing to Washington, D.C. as an example of crime reduction, Trump promised sweeping action. “We’ll do what has to be done because we’re going to make America safe again,” Trump said.

Brown remains in custody, facing murder charges.
