President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he is revoking all U.S. Secret Service protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden, the adult children of former President Joe Biden.

In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump announced the decision, implying that the security detail for Biden’s kids was excessive and unnecessary.

“Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States Taxpayer. There are as many as 18 people on this Detail, which is ridiculous!” the President posted.

Trump also confirmed that the former President’s daughter, Ashley Biden, will lose her security detail of 13 Secret Service agents.

The Secret Service quickly acknowledged Trump’s decision to cut ties.

“We are aware of the President’s decision to terminate protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden. The Secret Service will comply and is actively working with the protective details and the White House to ensure compliance as soon as possible,” a Secret Service spokesperson told Fox News.

However, while under federal law, the Secret Service provides lifelong protection for former Presidents and their spouses, the security provided to their adult children ends after their parents leave office. Still, the Biden and Trump administrations initially extended this protection for six months following their departures from office, a move that has now been reversed.

In addition to his statement about the Secret Service assignments, Trump used his post to address other international matters.

After mentioning that Hunter Biden was vacationing in South Africa, a country that has been criticized for its controversial land-exploration law and support for Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, Trump claimed that South Africa was removed from the U.S. list of countries receiving economic aid.

“He is currently vacationing in, of all places, South Africa, where the Human Rights of people has been strenuously questioned. Because of this, South Africa has been taken off our list of Countries receiving Economic and Financial Assistance,” Trump added in his March 17 post to Truth Social.
