Last week, former President Donald Trump unveiled a plan to create a new government efficiency commission, with the billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk potentially leading the initiative.

This proposal marks the latest development in the growing partnership between Trump and Musk. The two have recently aligned themselves more closely in their political and economic visions, as evident by a recent interview on Musk’s social media platform X.

Trump told Musk, “You’re the greatest cutter. I need an Elon Musk; I need somebody that has a lot of strength, and courage, and smarts. I want to close up the Department of Education, move education back to the states.”

Over a million people tuned in to their live discussion, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

During the conversation, Trump vowed to bring significant changes if he wins a second term, and he labeled his rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, as a “radical left, San Francisco liberal.”

During a speech to the Economic Club of New York last Thursday, Trump outlined his proposal for a commission to audit the entire federal government. He argued that fraudulent practices and improper payments have cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars in recent years. The commission, if realized, would allegedly save trillions of dollars.

It would work to implement “drastic reforms” within six months, focusing on eliminating waste and improving government operations, according to a report by the Associated Press.

“We need to do it. Can’t go on the way we are now,” Trump said.

Musk, known for his leadership roles at Tesla and SpaceX, has recently emerged as a vocal supporter of Trump’s presidential campaign. The entrepreneur took to social media to express his readiness to take on the challenge.

“I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises,” Musk posted on X.

“No pay, no title, no recognition is needed,” he added.

Trump’s remarks also highlighted his broader policy goals, including significant cuts to government spending, tax reductions for U.S. corporations, and increased support for energy production and cryptocurrencies, per AP.

The collaboration between Trump and Musk signifies a notable shift in their relationship. Once perceived as political adversaries, the two have recently found common ground, with Musk endorsing Trump.
