The Lincoln Project recently mocked former President Donald Trump’s appearance serving french fries at a McDonald’s in its mission to destroy all things associated with Trump.
According to the organization’s website, its mission is clear: “to protect the American Republic from Donald Trump and those who identify (publicly or privately) as MAGA supporters.”
The organization appears to be person-centered rather than policy-centered, aiming its resources to fight Trump.
The Lincoln Project’s webpage further states that they aim to “ensure Trumpism fail[s] alongside him” and that they “understand that the real fight against Trumpism is just beginning and we’re committed to seeing it through.”
Pointing to a video of Trump working at McDonald’s on Sunday, the organization’s official X account stated, “Good practice for his next job in the prison kitchen,” referring to the former president’s several criminal convictions.
Trump was convicted of criminal charges in the New York State Court regarding technicalities of the state’s financial fraud laws. The case stemmed from a question about whether Trump had inflated the value of some of his properties during the deal-making process with some central banks. No criminal complaint was filed by any party involved in the deal.
The jury returned a conviction in early 2024. The case is now on appeal, and the Appellate Court has reportedly shown skepticism about the conviction.
The convictions do not seem to have had a lasting impact on the presidential polls.
However, Vice President Kamala Harris has attempted to tie herself to the convictions. While attacking Trump, she has repeatedly emphasized her work as a prosecutor in California.

The reactions to The Lincoln Project’s tweets were mixed.
“You clowns are so beyond bitter it’s genuinely hilarious to behold,” Ty’s Tough Talk responded.
George Conway, the lawyer and former husband of Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway, said, “I am so mad at you guys for tweeting this first.” In 2020, Conway became well-known for his public denunciations of his wife’s employer and for his close association with the project.
Kellyanne and George divorced in 2023.

The picture of Trump as a fry cook has largely played well online. Images of him serving french fries and giving free meals in the drive-through have been widely meemed and recirculated.

In one video, a customer who claims to be from Brazil urges Trump not to let the United States become her home country.
