Tens of thousands of mourners gathered Sunday to honor Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated earlier this month, at a memorial service marked by worship, remembrance, and a powerful message of forgiveness from his widow, Erika Kirk.
Erika reflected on her husband’s mission to guide young men, noting that his calling extended even to those like the young man accused of taking his life.
She then invoked Christ’s words from Luke 23:34: “Father, forgive them, for they not know what they do.” Referring to the accused, 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson, she added, “That young man. I forgive him.”

Call to Continue Charlie’s Mission
Beyond her message of forgiveness, Erika urged those gathered to continue her husband’s work of civic engagement and leadership training.
“We will continue debates in dialogue,” she said, underscoring that Charlie believed open discussion was central to shaping the next generation.
She then turned to young men in the audience, urging them to pursue leadership with humility and honor their marriages.
“Please be a leader worth following. Your wife is not your servant. Your wife is not your employee. Your wife is not your slave. She is your helper. You are not rivals. You’re one flesh working together for the glory of God.”
A Call for Revival
Erika also reflected on the national response to her husband’s assassination.
“After Charlie’s assassination, we didn’t see violence. We didn’t see rioting. We didn’t see revolution. Instead, we saw what my husband always prayed he would see in this country — we saw revival.”
Her words drew cheers from the audience, with many standing as she declared that Kirk’s legacy would be carried forward through faith and civic renewal.
A Service of Worship and Resolve
The memorial spanned several hours and included extended worship, personal testimonies, and tributes to Charlie Kirk’s influence as a leader, husband, and father. Supporters described Erika’s words as both heartbreaking and galvanizing, calling them a reminder of the movement’s foundation in faith and family.
The service closed with prayers for Erika and the couple’s children, along with a renewed commitment among Turning Point members to continue Charlie Kirk’s mission in the years ahead.
