Reports have emerged of an active shooter near Florida State University’s (FSU) student union in Tallahassee, with videos circulating on social media showing students fleeing for safety. At least six people have been injured; no deaths among the victims have been confirmed at the time of this publication.
A suspect has been detained.
The university issued an alert on X, stating, “An active shooter has been reported in the area of Student Union. Police are on scene or on the way. Continue to seek shelter and await further instructions. Lock and stay away from all doors and windows and be prepared to take additional protective measures.”
The Tallahassee Democrat reported sirens echoing across downtown Tallahassee. An employee in the Bellamy Building told local media that the building was locked down, and law enforcement was evacuating people floor by floor.
