The Secret Service said on Sunday that it will not alter security plans for the Republican National Convention after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

Trump flew to Milwaukee on Sunday for the RNC less than 24 hours after a bullet clipped his ear in the attempted assassination. The Secret Service held a press conference with local law enforcement before the former president’s arrival. According to an official, the agency will not alter security plans ahead of the event.

“We’re not anticipating any changes to our operational security plans for this event,” Audrey Gibson-Cicchino, the RNC convention coordinator for the Secret Service, said.

“This is a national special security event — that is the highest level security designation that the federal government can determine,” she continued. “So we are confident in the security plans for this event. We’re ready to go. It’s been an 18-month process.”

Gibson-Cicchino did not answer questions about the attempted assassination of Trump.

Thomas Crooks shot at Trump with a rifle from a manufacturing plant roof roughly 130 yards away from a campaign rally stage in Butler County, Pennsylvania. One rally attendee died, and two others were severely injured, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Trump is set to be crowned the Republican nominee for president at the RNC, which will run from Monday to Thursday. He is expected to deliver his first in-person public remarks at the conference since Saturday’s shooting.

The former president was taken to a hospital in Pennsylvania after he was shot in the ear and then flown to New Jersey later that night.

He posted a statement Sunday morning on Truth Social.

“Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening,” he wrote. “We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families.”

“We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed,” he continued. “In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win. I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin.”
