Blue Bell Creameries has issued a recall for its Moo-llennium Crunch ice cream sold in 16 states, including Texas, due to a mislabeling issue that poses serious risks for people with nut allergies, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced.

The affected product, distributed in half-gallon cartons, was mistakenly packaged in a container labeled Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream but was topped with a Moo-llennium Crunch lid. The mislabeled ice cream contains undeclared almonds, walnuts, and pecans, which could trigger severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, in sensitive individuals.

The recall affects products sold in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

Consumers can identify the recalled ice cream by checking for the lot code “061027524” printed on the carton lid. Those with the affected product are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported in connection with the recall. However, consuming the mislabeled ice cream could cause symptoms such as hives, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or throat tightness in those allergic to the undeclared nuts. Anyone experiencing these symptoms after consuming the product should call 911 immediately.

For more information or questions about the recall, consumers can contact Blue Bell at 979-836-7977, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, or email [email protected].
