In a surprising turn of events, Republican rocker Kid Rock recently orchestrated an unexpected meeting between President Donald Trump and his frequent critic, comedian and political commentator Bill Maher in Washington, D.C.

The meeting, which was organized by Kid Rock and held over dinner, also featured UFC CEO Dana White, per The Hill.

Although Maher has often criticized Trump, Kid Rock highlighted the constructive quality of their discussion, pointing out that both individuals thoughtfully addressed a range of policy matters.

After the get-together, Kid Rock, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, couldn’t contain his excitement, claiming that the discussions—ranging from combating wokeness to border security—were nothing short of mind-blowing.

“We talked about things we had in common: ending wokeness, securing the border. The President asked him what he thought about policy, going on with Iran and Israel, among other topics. It blew my mind,” said Kid Rock, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

Maher has been a strong critic of Trump and is “obviously a very big liberal,” said Kid Rock, who mentioned that the dinner “couldn’t have been better,” reported The Hill.

Maher justified his choice to meet Trump.

Maher explained on his “Club Random” podcast in March that he understood many people on the left would question the meeting with Trump, asking, “‘How dare you talk to this man.’ It’s like f–k you, I’m not playing this game that you mean girls play,” reported New York Post.

“‘Oh, you know what? You can’t sit at my lunch table, because I’m just not talking to you.’ Not talking to you? You lost the election. Who the f–k do you think you have to talk to?” Maher added.

Kid Rock expressed his desire to inject more civility into the often chaotic political climate, asserting that face-to-face dialogues are key to bridging ideological divides.

“Nothing happens if people don’t break bread together and meet face-to-face,” Kid Rock explained, per The Hollywood Reporter.
