Five consumer products, including a children’s play kitchen linked to a fatal incident, have been recalled due to serious safety risks, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced.

The recalls involve hazards ranging from strangulation to burn injuries and entrapment.

KidKraft Farm to Table Play Kitchen

Backyard Kids, LLC, of Plano, Texas, is recalling about 192,000 KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchens due to a strangulation hazard. In February 2023, a 23-month-old child in Oregon died after their shirt caught on a hook while climbing through the back opening of the play kitchen, leading to asphyxiation. The hooks, meant to hold toy pots and pans, pose a risk when children climb or crawl through the unit.

The black and light gray play kitchens, intended for ages 3 and up, measure 44 inches long, 13¾ inches wide, and 43 inches high, with model number 53411 on a back sticker. Sold online at KidKraft.com, Amazon.com, and Walmart.com from 2018 to July 2025 for $120 to $270, about 400 units were sold by Backyard Kids, with 12 in Canada.

Consumers should stop using the play kitchens, remove the hooks, and contact Backyard Kids at 800-882-0234 (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday-Friday), [email protected], or www.kidkraft.com/pages/recall for free replacement hooks. Manufactured in China. Recall number: 25-415.
