President Donald Trump announced in a Truth Social post that he plans to lead a movement to eliminate mail-in ballots and electronic voting machines, replacing them with paper ballots to restore confidence in America’s elections.

Trump said in the post that he would sign an executive order aimed at protecting the integrity of the 2026 midterm elections, saying that states should act as “agents” of the federal government in the way they count votes, and should comply with all federal directives.

“I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, and also, while we’re at it, Highly ‘Inaccurate,’ Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES, which cost Ten Times more than accurate and sophisticated Watermark Paper, which is faster, and leaves NO DOUBT, at the end of the evening, as to who WON, and who LOST, the Election.”

The President pledged to “fight like hell” to bring honesty back to the voting process.

“With their HORRIBLE Radical Left policies, like Open Borders, Men Playing in Women’s Sports, Transgender and ‘WOKE’ for everyone, and so much more, Democrats are virtually Unelectable without using this completely disproven Mail-In SCAM,” Trump continued.

Still, there is a hefty financial obstacle connected to fixing and updating voting machines across the country. As reported by the Brennan Center for Justice, replacing outdated machines nationwide could cost around $400 million, with individual machines priced at roughly $5,000 each.

As of 2025, the Constitution grants states the authority to oversee and administer elections. That means any attempt to ban mail-in ballots or voting machines through executive action could likely face legal challenges at the state level.

However, for years, Trump has been focused on the potential fraud associated with the mail-in voting system.

In October of 2024, Trump posted to X: “Wow! York County, Pennsylvania, received THOUSANDS of potentially FRAUDULENT Voter Registration Forms and Mail-In Ballot Applications from a third party group. This is on top of Lancaster County being caught with 2600 Fake Ballots and Forms, all written by the same person.”
