President Donald Trump commemorated the 24th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks with an official Presidential Proclamation, declaring September 11, 2025, as Patriot Day.

Through a joint resolution passed on December 18, 2001 (Public Law 107-89), Congress established September 11 of each year as “Patriot Day.”

“NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, do herby [sic] proclaim September 11, 2025, as Patriot Day, 2025,” Trump stated in the proclamation.

The proclamation renews America’s commitment to remembering the 2,977 victims and vows that any future attacks will be met with “devastation and crushing defeat.”

The Presidential declaration comes as the nation reflects on nearly a quarter-century since the deadliest terrorist attack in recorded history. Trump’s proclamation emphasizes a foreign policy of “peace through strength” while honoring those who perished and the first responders who rushed into danger.

The proclamation recounts the timeline of that September morning in vivid detail. At 8:46 a.m., Flight 11 struck the World Trade Center’s North Tower, followed by Flight 175 hitting the South Tower at 9:03 a.m.

Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m., killing 184 people in Arlington, Virginia. The towers’ collapse claimed 2,753 lives in New York City.

Trump’s proclamation reserves special praise for the passengers of Flight 93. With the rallying cry “Let’s roll,” they stormed the cockpit and forced the plane to crash in Pennsylvania, preventing it from reaching Washington, D.C.

“Their uncommon courage will never be forgotten, and the hallowed ground in Pennsylvania, their final destination, serves as a lasting reminder that the United States will never yield to forces of evil,” the proclamation states.

The President called for all federal buildings to fly flags at half-staff on September 11. He also encouraged young Americans to speak with family members, veterans, and first responders about their memories of that day.

The proclamation promises that America’s military, described as “the fiercest, most lethal, and most formidable military on the face of the Earth,” stands ready to defend against future threats.

“We will never, ever forget,” Trump declared.
