After another draw without a winner, the Powerball jackpot has climbed to a lofty $1.7 billion, the third-largest prize in the game’s history.

Wednesday marked the 33rd consecutive Powerball drawing without a winner, helping push the massive jackpot to one of the highest ever. The white balls drawn were 3, 16, 29, 61, and 69, while the red Powerball was 22.

While no players won the jackpot, 11 people walked away with a $1-million prize after matching all five white balls. Four players in Texas, Michigan, Oregon, and Wyoming doubled their winnings to $2 million by opting for the Power Play option for $1 more.

When the elusive jackpot is won, players can choose to receive the money in annual installments or a lump sum payment. With the annuity option, the winner receives an immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that rise by 5% every year.

Despite the sky-high prizes, the final amounts are scaled back around 37% due to federal taxes. In some cases, players will also be hit with a state tax ranging from 3% to 11%. Fortunately, Texas remains one of the states where this additional tax does not exist.

The last time the jackpot was won was on May 31, 2025, when a player in California was awarded $204.5 million.

The next drawing is on Saturday, September 6.
