Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Tuesday that his office has launched undercover operations to infiltrate and dismantle far-leftist terror cells operating across the state.
The move follows a wave of violent incidents previously covered by The Dallas Express — including the targeted attack on a Dallas ICE facility, the Antifa-linked ambush in Alvarado, and the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk.
“Leftist political terrorism is a clear and present danger,” Paxton said in his October 7 press release. “Corrupted ideologies like transgenderism and Antifa are a cancer on our culture and have unleashed their deranged and drugged-up foot soldiers on the American people. The martyrdom of Charlie Kirk marks a turning point in America.”
Paxton said the initiative would focus on identifying and infiltrating radical groups that have “incubated an environment where political violence is not only justified but celebrated.”
“To those demented souls who seek to kill, steal, and destroy our country, know this: you cannot hide, you cannot escape, and justice is coming,” he added.
Paxton described the initiative as part of a broader law-and-order push — a Texas crackdown on what he called “leftist terror cells.”
Dallas ICE Attack: ‘Pre-Attack Planning’ Confirmed
As DX reported, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that the September 24 attack on the Dallas ICE field office was pre-planned and targeted at law enforcement officers. The shooter, 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, allegedly fired from a nearby rooftop, killing one detainee and critically injuring others.
Paxton cited the attack — along with a July ambush on an ICE facility in Alvarado — as evidence of an organized far-left network operating in Texas.
Antifa’s Ambush Architect Confirms Radical-Left Motives
In prior DX reporting, Benjamin Song, identified as the “ambush architect” of the Alvarado attack, admitted from prison that his actions were driven by radical-left motives and a desire to “resist ICE by any means.”
Paxton referenced such actors implicitly in his release, calling them “foot soldiers” of a violent ideological movement and directing his office to “identify, investigate, and infiltrate these leftist terror cells.”
Charlie Kirk Assassination Marks ‘Turning Point’
Paxton’s announcement directly invoked the September 10 assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, describing his death as “martyrdom.”
Paxton described Kirk’s alleged assassin as a “leftist assassin connected to the radical transgender movement [who] murdered Charlie Kirk because of Kirk’s bold support for truth, love of country, and unshakable faith.”
The suspect was allegedly connected to a “transgender” activist network.
Investigators have charged Tyler James Robinson, 22, in the shooting and allege he was radicalized through far-left online networks. Paxton said Kirk’s death “marks a turning point in America,” framing it as justification for broader counter-extremism efforts in Texas.
Trump’s Federal Backing
Paxton’s state-level action builds on President Donald J. Trump’s recent designation of Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization, which directs federal agencies to dismantle any illegal operations associated with the movement.
Paxton said his office will coordinate with federal partners to root out “radical leftist organizations engaged in or providing support to those performing political violence.”
What Comes Next
The Attorney General’s office has not disclosed details of the undercover operations or which groups are being targeted. Analysts warn that while infiltration could expose real extremist threats, it also risks overreach if applied broadly to left-leaning activism.
Still, Paxton maintains his stance is uncompromising:
“There can be no compromise with those who want us dead,” he said.
