By now, the world is aware of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.
With people knowing WHAT happened, now folks are turning their attention to HOW this could happen.
The Secret Service has a few gaping holes to fill, one of which is on everyone’s mind: How could a 20-year-old, Thomas Matthew Crooks, with no professional sniper experience, manage to breach the security, reach an elevated position beyond the venue perimeter with an AR-style rifle, be seen by both spectators and police and then attempt to assassinate Trump?
When citizens are not given answers, their imaginations begin to fill in the gaps with everything from conspiracy theories to gross negligence.
America wants answers: truthful answers.
The shooter, killed by Secret Service agents after the shooting began, has been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. The FBI is currently trying to ascertain his motives. The victim who lost his life is Corey Comperatore, while the injured individuals include 57-year-old David Dutch of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and 74-year-old James “Jim” Copenhaver of Moon Township, Pennsylvania. Copenhaver has sustained “life-altering injuries,” his family stated, per Fox News.
And let’s add this little tidbit: The parents of the shooter called the police on the day of Trump’s rally.
Here is what Fox News had to say about this latest development:
Thomas Matthew Crooks’ parents were looking for him on Saturday in the hours leading up to the Trump rally shooting and eventually called law enforcement to indicate that he was missing and they were worried, Fox News has learned.
It’s unclear what his parents told authorities, but the call happened on Saturday before Crooks later opened fire at Trump during the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The parents are being cooperative with authorities, and the FBI is still trying to determine a motive for the attack, sources also told Fox News.
