New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu is set to endorse Nikki Haley for president at a campaign event on Tuesday as his state prepares for the nation’s first 2024 presidential primary, according to a report.

Sununu, who maintains one of the best governor approval ratings in the country, will appear at a campaign event Tuesday evening with Haley at the McIntyre Ski Area in Manchester. He is expected to endorse Haley there, according to Fox News.

The governor provided an enthusiastic statement to the outlet without confirming the report.

“I look forward to joining Nikki at her town hall this evening — it’s going to be a lot of fun!” Sununu said.

New Hampshire hosts the first primary election on January 23 — one week after the Iowa caucus. The state is known for its significant portion of independent voters. Sununu has an approval rating of above 60% in his third term. His father, John, was also a governor in the state and later served as the chief of staff for the late President George H. W. Bush.

Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, has maintained her strongest support in New Hampshire, where she sits in second place in the RealClearPolitics (RCP) aggregate of polling data at 19%. Former President Donald Trump leads the state with 46% support.

RCP’s national polling shows Haley, the former ambassador to the United Nations, tied for second with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 12% behind Trump’s 60%. Iowa caucus polling has Trump at 50%, DeSantis at 20%, and Haley at 16%.

Trump leads President Joe Biden by 2% in national polling for the general election.
