Consumers across the United States are being urged to check their freezers after MorningStar Farms announced a voluntary recall of two frozen plant-based products due to the possible presence of plastic pieces.
The recall, announced June 18 and published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on June 22, affects select packages of MorningStar Farms Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets and MorningStar Farms Hot and Spicy Sausage Patties sold in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica.
The company said no other MorningStar Farms products are included in the recall.

The recalled products were sold at grocery stores nationwide.
MorningStar Farms is advising customers who purchased the affected products not to consume them. Consumers should either discard the recalled products or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. The company has also instructed customers to contact its consumer affairs department for assistance.
As of the recall announcement, no illnesses or injuries linked to the affected products had been reported. However, consumers who believe they may have experienced health issues after eating the recalled items are encouraged to contact a healthcare provider.
The recall was initiated because plastic pieces may be present in the food, posing a choking or injury hazard.
