First Lady Melania Trump outlined the schedule for a state visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan to the White House this week.
President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will host the Chinese leader and his wife on Thursday, September 24, more than a decade after their previous White House visit. The President will greet the couple at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday, September 23.
A State Arrival Ceremony on the South Lawn, State Floor and Rose Garden will feature 479 military personnel from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. The event includes an Armed Forces Full Honor Cordon, a fanfare by the United States Army Herald Trumpets, national anthems performed by the United States Marine Band, remarks by both presidents, a salute by the Marine Silent Drill Platoon, and a military review with performances by the Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, the Marine Silent Drill Platoon, and the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps.
A flyover of a B-2 Spirit and four F-22 Raptors will close the ceremony.
After the arrival, Mrs. Trump and Madame Peng Liyuan will visit the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art. That evening, the couples will hold a State Dinner in the East Room. On Friday morning, they will have tea in the Red Room before viewing historic documents at the National Archives, where the visit concludes.
