Turning Point USA (TPUSA) has reported a surge of donations following the assassination of its co-founder, Charlie Kirk, as supporters and public figures rally to continue his mission.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Kirk, the late founder of TPUSA, was shot and killed during a Q&A at Utah Valley University on September 10. The campus marked the first stop of the group’s “American Comeback Tour.”
Following the tragedy, donations poured in, including a $1 million pledge from Lynn Friess, the widow of the late mega-donor Foster Friess.
In a September 14 email, Friess said her donation would support “new TPUSA chapters springing up across the country … helping this incredible movement grow even stronger,” according to The Guardian.
Other figures helping raise funds for TPUSA include Tucker Carlson and Dallas multimillionaire Doug Deason.
“Charlie was an extraordinary fundraiser with deep ties to President Trump and his son Don Jr. He is a big loss to them and they will be scrambling to fill that void,” Arizona Republican consultant Chuck Coughlin told The Guardian.
Deason, a member of the TPUSA advisory board, wrote in an email, “Charlie was already a legend before his assassination. Now he is a martyr. TPUSA is not and never was about Charlie. It was always about the issues of freedom to discuss and debate freely in the town square and in classrooms without fear of reprisal, freedom to worship our Lord openly and proudly, and securing the concept of our constitutional republic in the minds of our youth. Now there are millions of new advocates for the cause. We will always support the TPUSA team,” The Guardian reported.
