On Tuesday afternoon, a medical helicopter crashed as it was en route to transport a child to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The accident occurred just before 1 p.m., near a church in the Drexel Hill section of Upper Darby Township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

According to Upper Darby Police, neither the crew members nor the child were seriously injured. Everyone managed to get out of the wrecked helicopter before first responders arrived.

Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt for Upper Darby Police said in a statement, “It’s an absolute miracle what you see behind me. No trees or power lines down.”

The pilot landed the medical helicopter with as little damage as possible. The tail of it was shown torn off and bent under the cockpit.

The identities of the four people involved in the incident have not been released.

Fire Chief Thomas Sawyer said, “We’re blessed as a community and as a fire department.”

Emergency officials were amazed at how the aircraft did not cause a lot of destruction to the neighborhood following the impact.

No damage was done to the Drexel Hill United Methodist Church at Burmont Road and Bloomfield Avenue or homes in the vicinity.
