When former Vice President Kamala Harris’ dormant campaign account @KamalaHQ posted a cryptic video on February 4—showing failed login attempts with passwords like “project2025wasreal” before accepting “headquarters” and teasing “Tomorrow”—it ignited speculation about a potential 2028 presidential run.
On February 5, Harris announced a rebrand: the account became @headquarters_67 (as the site claimed that “Elon wouldn’t give us @headquarters”). The site has turned into “Headquarters,” a Gen-Z-led leftist content hub and online organizing project.
The account previously served as the “Biden-Harris HQ” account in 2024. Harris took over the Democratic nomination from then-President Joe Biden, and it rebranded as “Kamala HQ.”
Trump defeated Harris by a wide margin – with 312 electoral votes to her 226. He also won the popular vote, marking the first time Republicans had won it in 20 years, Axios reported.
Partnering with the left-leaning nonprofit People For the American Way (founded in 1981 to counter the “religious right”), Harris’ new initiative appeart to focus on mobilize young voters ahead of the 2026 midterms by sharing updates, highlighting left-wing leaders across elected, community, civic, faith, and youth spheres on platforms including X, TikTok, YouTube, and Substack.
In a launch video, Harris explained: “KamalaHQ is turning into Headquarters… It’s where you can go online to get basically the latest of what’s going on, and also to meet and revisit with some of our great courageous leaders – be they elected leaders, community leaders, civic leaders, faith leaders, young leaders. I’m really excited about it. Stay engaged, and I’ll see you out there.”

The pivot to a media and mobilization hub drew reactions ranging from Republican FCC Chair Brendan Carr’s humorous disappointment (“Haven’t been this disappointed since Beyonce didn’t perform”) to ongoing Democratic efforts to rebuild post-2024.
