An Immigration and Customs Enforcement official said this week that the department should operate like a business, similar to Amazon Prime.
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said at the 2025 Border Security Expo that he envisions the agency using lines of trucks to round up illegal aliens, similar to how Amazon Prime delivers packages.
Lyons specifically claimed that the deportation process should be “like [Amazon] Prime, but with human beings.”
“We need to get better at treating this like a business,” he explained, per Newsmax.
Lyons then discussed the tools the agency is using to assist in the deportation process, explaining that ICE could begin using artificial intelligence to “free up bed space” and “fill up airplanes.”
The ICE director further discussed how the agency is directing resources toward combating voter fraud, also claiming that ICE is working alongside Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency to evaluate potential Social Security fraud.
Lyons was one of multiple Trump administration appointees to speak at the event. Border Czar Tom Homan and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also gave remarks during the expo.
Homan further stressed multiple points Lyons discussed, claiming that providing ICE with resources can speed up deportation processes. “We need to buy more beds, we need more airplane flights, and I know a lot of you are here for that reason,” he explained.
“Let the badge and guns do the badge and gun stuff; everything else, let’s contract out,” Homan added.
These comments come as the Trump administration continues to increase the number of deportations throughout the country.
One official from the Trump Administration has claimed to Newsweek that there have been more than 100,000 deportations of illegal aliens since President Donald Trump was inaugurated on January 20.
The southern border has become significantly more secure during Trump’s first few months, as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported only 7,180 southwest border crossings in March. These numbers are significantly lower than the monthly average of 155,000 southwest border crossings in the previous four years.
CBP Acting Commissioner Pete Flores said, “Border Patrol agents are empowered like never before to shut down unlawful entry and protect American lives.”
“The message is clear: the border is closed to illegal crossings, and for those still willing to test our resolve, know this — you will be prosecuted, and you will be deported.”
