Rapper Snoop Dogg has publicly expressed discomfort with LGBTQ+ representation in children’s movies. He specifically cited his experience watching Pixar’s 2022 film Lightyear with his grandson.

During a recent appearance on Sarah Fontenot’s It’s Giving podcast, Snoop Dogg described feeling unprepared when his grandson asked questions about a same-sex couple in Lightyear. The rapper said he felt frustrated because he had not anticipated discussing those topics during what he expected to be a routine movie outing.

“Why my grandson in the middle of the movie like ‘Papa Snoop, how she have a baby with a woman? She a woman.’ Oh sh*t, I didn’t come in for this sh*t. I just came to watch the g*ddamn movie. Hey man, watch the movie. They just said she and she had a baby. They both women. How does she have a baby? Sh*t. The movie ain’t over with… I’m scared to go to the movies. Like y’all throwing me in the middle of sh*t that I don’t have an answer for,” Snoop said.

Additionally, he argued that LGBTQ+ representation appears more frequently in children’s entertainment, complicating family outings. He said that watching Lightyear created unexpected questions from his grandson that he found difficult to answer.
