Hunter Biden did not comply with a subpoena for deposition on Wednesday from the House Oversight Committee; instead, he held a press conference slamming the GOP investigation into his business deals.

The president’s son held the press conference on Capitol Hill, where he claimed his father “was not financially involved” in his business deals. He said Republicans “invaded” his privacy and “ridiculed my struggle with addiction.”

“They belittled my recovery, and they have tried to dehumanize me, all to embarrass my father, who has devoted his entire life to public service,” he said. “For six years, I have been a target of the unrelenting Trump attack team. ‘Where’s Hunter?’ Well, here’s my answer. I am here.”

Hunter Biden reportedly cut deals with Ukranian and Chinese businesses in recent years. He said in the press conference that there is “no evidence to support that my father was financially involved in my business because it did not happen.”

For months, the White House has asserted the president was not involved with his son’s business ventures.

The House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman James Comer (R-KY), presented evidence in its investigation earlier this year which they claim indicates the president may have been involved with his son’s international deals. The committee expressed concerns that political influence may have leveraged the deals.

Comer said Wednesday that the deposition, which Hunter Biden ignored, is a common congressional procedure.

“This is a normal process in an investigation,” Comer said. “This has been a serious investigation since day one — an investigation about public corruption at the highest level.”

Hunter Biden agreed last month to appear for the deposition but requested it be made public, The Dallas Express previously reported. Comer countered that the deposition must be behind closed doors and that Hunter Biden could testify publicly at a later date. The congressman later threatened to hold the president’s son in contempt if he did not appear for the deposition.

Hunter Biden dismissed the investigation in his press conference.

“Republicans have lied over and over about every aspect about my personal and professional life,” he claimed. “So much so that the false facts are believed by too many people.”

“They have taken the light of my dad’s love for me and presented it as darkness. They have no shame,” he continued.

The House voted Wednesday to open an impeachment inquiry into the president that will focus on his alleged involvement with his son’s business.
