Vice President Kamala Harris released her policy platform Monday, nearly two months after she launched her presidential campaign.
Harris’ campaign launched a policy section on her campaign website the day before her presidential debate against former President Donald Trump. The policy platform focuses on countering corporate profits through government regulations, enabling abortion, and enacting anti-gun legislation.
The vice president pledges in the policy platform to veto any federal abortion restrictions and sign legislation to “restore reproductive freedom nationwide.”
The platform provides more information on big government economic programs announced by Harris in recent weeks. This includes price controls on groceries and giving up to $25,000 in taxpayer dollars to first-time homebuyers for down payments. Economic experts have criticized the proposals, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
The Harris campaign pledged in its policy platform to establish historic levels of gun control.
“She’ll ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, require universal background checks, and support red flag laws that keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people,” it states.
The Harris campaign promised to establish “tough, smart solutions to secure the border, keep communities safe, and reform our broken immigration system.” However, southern border encounters reached unprecedented numbers under the Biden-Harris administration, as the exact number of illegal aliens crossing into the United States is unknown, according to USAFacts.
Harris’ policy platform criticized Republicans for spiking immigration legislation some leaders said did not go far enough to counter illegal migration.
“As President, she will bring back the bipartisan border security bill and sign it into law,” it states. “At the same time, she knows that our immigration system is broken and needs comprehensive reform that includes strong border security and an earned pathway to citizenship.”
The vice president also endorsed term limits for Supreme Court justices and suggested she would counter the highest court’s decision this year to grant immunity to former presidents for acts committed within the powers of their office.
“She’ll fight to ensure that no former president has immunity for crimes committed while in the White House,” the platform states. “She will also support common-sense Supreme Court reforms — like requiring Justices to comply with ethics rules that other federal judges are bound by and imposing term limits — to address the crisis of confidence facing the Supreme Court.”
The civil rights section of Harris’ policy platform calls for expanding mail-in voting and early voting.
The webpage for the Harris campaign policies also includes sections criticizing the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025. Trump has repeatedly said he was not involved in the drafting of the program.
