Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has said that the state will not have the final results for several days.

Georgia broke statewide records for voter turnout, as over 310,000 Georgia residents voted on the first day of early voting, compared to only 136,739 votes cast on the first day of early voting in 2020, reported the Washington Examiner.

“Seventy-five percent of all the vote totals will be reported no later than 8 p.m. on election night. What we will be waiting for is the overseas ballots, which come in no later than Friday,” Raffensperger, a Republican, said in an interview on Face the Nation.

“I understand that we’re very competitive; that’s why we’ve done everything since Day 1 to ensure we have fast, accurate, and secure elections for all my voters here in Georgia,” Raffensperger said, as reported by the Washington Examiner.

Raffensperger also mentioned that with the new law, SB189, all early votes and all early accepted ballots will be counted, and the results will be posted by 8 p.m. on election day.

“I encourage everyone to vote during the early voting period to avoid long lines on Election Day,” Raffensperger said last week.

“What if there’s bad weather? What if you’re coming down with a cold and can’t make it? I urge people to take advantage of early voting,” Raffensperger said, according to the Washington Examiner.

People online have reacted to this development and alleged that this is a way for a scam to happen.
