Alex Jones has thrown his support behind the U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., following a fiery Senate hearing.
Jones praised Kennedy’s performance while acknowledging that Vice President JD Vance is viewed as the favorite to inherit Donald Trump’s political mantle.
In his September 4 livestream, Jones said Kennedy “destroyed” senators who challenged him during the Thursday Finance Committee session. “Kennedy just bam, bam, bam. I mean, you want 5D chess. This is actually where it’s happening. He needs to be the next president,” Jones said. He added that Kennedy should choose Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard as his running mate.

The hearing, which centered on Kennedy’s leadership of the Department of Health and Human Services, became one of the most contentious appearances of Trump’s second term. Democrats accused Kennedy of pushing conspiracy theories and mismanaging the CDC following his dismissal of director Susan Monarez, while Kennedy countered that the CDC had presided over soaring rates of chronic disease.
Vance lashed out at Democrats who grilled Kennedy, writing on X that senators were “full of s— and everyone knows it.” Kennedy reposted the comment, thanking the vice president for his support.

Other administration figures also rallied around Kennedy, including press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who said he was “taking flak because he’s over the target,” and deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich, who wrote that “Democrats are getting absolutely TORCHED.”
Despite the criticism, Kennedy has leaned into the moment, posting clips of his exchanges with senators that have drawn tens of millions of views. One video, captioned “We became the sickest country in the world. I need to make sure this doesn’t happen again,” showed him calling for a housecleaning at the CDC.

Moreover, the U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) under Kennedy’s leadership is currently the most aggressive agency pursuing regulatory changes.
HHS currently leads the federal agencies in having 19 pending regulatory actions. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency trails in second place with 10, and the U.S. Department of the Interior follows in third with 9, according to a chart from the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.
Jones did not elaborate on whether he believed the hypothetical Kennedy-Gabbard ticket should be a Republican or Democratic ticket. Until 2024, Kennedy was a member of the Democratic Party. Gabbard was also once a Democrat. Former Democrats have won the Republican nomination before, including Presidents Donald Trump and Ronald Reagan.
However, there are other hurdles Kennedy would have to tackle. In recent memory, most Vice Presidents who run for their party’s nomination and stay in the race through the primaries get the nomination. Vice President Mike Pence’s 2024 presidential campaign was an exception, but this precedent is complicated by the fact that both he and Trump were running for the nomination that year. This means that with Trump’s term limited, history indicates Vance is likely to win the nomination.
With the 2028 Presidential election more than three years away, Vance currently maintains his lead as Trump’s successor, but the political winds are pushing contenders into the horizon.
