Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 148,300 vehicles in the United States due to two separate safety issues.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recalls affecting certain Ford F-150 trucks, Expedition SUVs, Lincoln Navigator models, and the new 2025 Ford Explorer.

The larger recall impacts 123,611 vehicles from model years 2017-2018, including F-150 pickups, Expeditions, and Lincoln Navigators. These vehicles may experience brake fluid leaks that compromise stopping power. Affected owners will receive free replacement of the master cylinder or brake booster at dealerships.

A second recall targets 24,655 units of the 2025 Ford Explorer due to a software issue with the Powertrain Control Module. The PCM may reset while driving, potentially damaging the park system or causing engine stalls.

According to NHTSA documentation, the software problems could lead to unexpected vehicle shutdowns while driving or parking system malfunctions. Both scenarios present significant safety hazards for drivers and passengers.

Ford dealers will update the PCM software at no cost to resolve the issue. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by May 26, 2025.
