A U.S. veteran who founded a disaster relief organization has accused the FBI of wrongfully labeling him a domestic terrorist and targeting his family.

American Contingency founder and former Green Beret Mike Glover said during an interview with Tucker Carlson that it feels “horrible” to be targeted by the American government after he spent two decades fighting for it.

“It just sucks being targeted by [my] country. My mom was targeted. My mom’s Facebook account was deleted because the FBI communicated to social media and destroyed all the social media accounts,” Glover said, per the New York Post.

“My mom came here from Korea from meeting my military dad in the Army, and we are dealing with this. She is dealing with this. Her small beauty salon … is dealing with this,” Glover continued, as per the New York Post.

Glover said he had not been accused of an actual crime.

An FBI whistleblower said American Contingency was labeled as “domestic violent extremism,” according to a September letter from Congressman Jim Jordan to FBI Director Christopher Wray.

The whistleblower suggests that the FBI opened an investigation into Glover’s military records, veteran’s disability rating, and monthly disability benefit and deemed him a potential “threat” simply because he spoke out against the United States government.

“It doesn’t take a First Amendment scholar to realize what is protected speech and what isn’t. It seems clear that this is an instance where an FBI employee reported something because it didn’t align with their own woke ideology,” the whistleblower reportedly said in Congressman Jordan’s letter.

Glover said the whistleblower was likely a hostage rescue agent who he worked with overseas.

In the letter, an excerpt from the FBI concluded that American Contingency is not a threat and instead “desires to assist Americans in preparing themselves for catastrophic events and not to overthrow the United States Government.”

The investigation into Glover’s social media “failed to support the allegation that Glover is a threat to the United States or its citizens,” according to Jordan’s letter.

However, in a statement to The Dallas Express, the FBI said it “does not and cannot designate domestic terrorist organizations.”

“The FBI can never open an investigation based solely on protected First Amendment activity. We cannot and do not investigate ideology,” the statement continued. “We focus on individuals who commit or intend to commit violence and criminal activity that constitutes a federal crime or poses a threat to national security.”
