Elon Musk has reignited controversy surrounding the Epstein investigation, mocking President Donald Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi in a series of scathing social media posts.
In a sharply sarcastic social media post, Musk wrote:
Wow I can’t believe Epstein killed himself before realizing it was all a hoax

Earlier that day, Musk taunted Bondi, posting:

In still another post, Musk shared a meme featuring a photo of what appeared to be a stealth jet assembled from scraps of paper:

THE BREAKDOWN
- Musk escalated criticism of Trump’s handling of the Epstein case through pointed satire on social media.
- Trump has dismissed concerns about the files as a hoax, despite earlier campaign promises to make them public.
- Department of Justice officials claim there is no Epstein “client list,” a conclusion rejected by many in Trump’s MAGA base.
- Pam Bondi’s leadership on the case is under increasing scrutiny, including from prominent MAGA figures.
- Polls show eroding support for Trump’s handling of the case, even among Republicans.
Musk’s tweets came amid growing dissatisfaction among Republicans over Bondi’s recent announcement that it found no evidence of a “client list” or foul play in Epstein’s 2019 death, which she indicated was a suicide. That conclusion contradicted years of speculation from influencers, some of whom built their brands on the promise that Trump would expose an alleged global pedophile network.
Trump’s refusal to escalate the investigation and his insistence that the controversy is the “Jeffrey Epstein Hoax” has sparked a rare and widening rift within his MAGA coalition. On July 15, House Speaker Mike Johnson called for the full release of any Epstein-related materials in the name of “transparency.”
Activist Laura Loomer, once considered a close Trump ally, warned in an interview with Politico that the scandal could “consume his presidency.” Loomer still voiced support for Trump but urged the appointment of a special counsel.
Internal polling appears to reflect the backlash.
A Quinnipiac University poll released on July 16 shows that 63% of voters disapproved of Trump’s handling of the Epstein files, with Republicans nearly split on the issue.
Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Trump’s former national security adviser, also weighed in this week, urging the President to “move past this” and repair the damage. “The roll out of this was terrible, no way around that,” Flynn posted on X.
.@realDonaldTrump I hesitated to write this however, with the utmost respect and deference to you for all you’ve withstood (few know it better than me what the “deep state” can do when they want to turn on a person). The EPSTEIN AFFAIR is NOT about who killed him or if he…

Despite having previously teased the release of “the list,” Trump now insists there is nothing more to be uncovered and that further investigation is a distraction.
“She’s done very good,” Trump said on July 16 when asked about Bondi’s leadership. “She says, ‘I gave you all the credible information,’ and if she finds any more credible information, she’ll give that too.”
Responding to the public backlash, Trump stated that “based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval,” Trump posted on Truth Social on July 17, as reported by The Dallas Express. “This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!”
